Quick note about patreon sales tax thing
Added 2020-05-20 23:18:50 +0000 UTCHey folks, I just had Patreon notify me about some sort of new sales tax rule coming up-- I'm going to be upfront that I generally find this sort of thing pretty confusing, and fiddling around with the tax settings seems to be optional, so I'm not going to mess with it for fear of making something worse 😅I don't think I have the option to turn off the sales tax thing completely though unfortunately
From what I do understand, this doesn't seem to go into effect until July 1st so I guess that's good. Whether sales tax gets added to your pledge just seems to vary in some way by state/location, and since my tier values aren't very high anyway, it seems like even if you did get taxed you'd probably just be looking at a handful of cents added on, or something like that?
However if anybody feels the need to drop their pledge due to it, I completely understand! I genuinely dislike patreon (much in the same way I dislike picarto actually), it is a good idea but handled so badly and it sucks
