Fortress Basement Massacre (Raising the B.A.R. Tier)

Long ago, this lair was the basement of a fortress that protected the ancient queendom against invasions from neighbouring lands. Yet they did not expect the invasion to come up from below. Dark creatures overran this place and caused the queendom to fall.

The fortress had a magic circle that used powerful gems to create a forcefield that protected the fortress above from attack. For years this brought peace and prosperity to the queendom.

However, the deep-place had been plundered by the queendoms artificers for too long. The queendom's mines ran into the deep-place like scars, and were threatening to awaken an ancient evil. Any plea from the denizens of the deep-place fell on deaf ears, and so their only option was to launch an attack from below.

After the attack, the death and decay of the place mixed with the strange magics of the protective forcefield. This combination created a haunting curse of the land above, keeping all but the most foolish of adventurers away.

As such, the place began to fall to ruin, and the basement sat empty until one with dark enough magic could enter its depths.
