I'm sure that by now, you've all seen the circus that I've found myself in over the past few days concerning the age restriction that was placed on the Dachau video. I honestly can't believe that this is where we are, but it is what it is.
Every time something like this happens, I get a flood of people telling me to go to Rumble. What they don't know is that I'm already on Rumble and have a few videos posted there. I'm going to continue to build that channel out. But to be honest, Rumble isn't exactly awesome although there have been some improvements lately to their platform. My goal has always been to reach as many people with historic content as possible. If I were to completely disconnect from YouTube and go solely to Rumble, I would be shooting myself in the foot. Ideally, I'd like to see some reforms at YouTube but making changes from within is proving difficult. I think that something big is going to have to happen where they get pressure from the outside.
Also, although I'd resisted the idea at first, I'm going to re-upload the Dachau video without the above photo that offended their sensitivities so much. I'm also go to explain why so that people can see what is happening at YouTube.
Our channel isn't the only one that's experiencing this. I've been contacted by numerous other history creators who are experiencing the same thing. I'm not going to go as far as to say that YouTube has Holocaust deniers in their ranks, but their policies are certainly doing the work that a Holocaust denier would be pleased with. At some point, a major media outlet is going to pick up on this and it's going to be a PR nightmare for YouTube.
My other fear (which might be completely unfounded) is that the channel is going to be punished for some of my remarks that I've been making publicly. Yesterday saw a significant decline in new subscribers. Sometimes that just happens. I'm just hoping that there isn't a correlation.
I don't know when the re-upload is going to happen. I'm leaning toward Tuesday or Wednesday. When it happens, I'll need some help getting the word out. Appreciate you all!

Rest assured that I kept it above board (no pettiness) and tried to make sure I got my message across about the absurdity of censoring the content you went out of your way to keep it within guidelines.

2023-02-04 21:02:27 +0000 UTCNo. The original will stay up. I refuse to replace that. The same thing happened awhile back with an American Artifact video that got hit with an age restriction. The original currently has 17,777 views. The re-upload that is sanitized has 96,678 views. I wasn't going to do it but the more I thought about it, the more I convinced myself otherwise. I not only want the people to see the content, but I want them to know what is happening behind the curtain at YouTube.

I fear making any plea to YouTube as a subscriber would be a waste of time but I’d vigorously support a campaign to get attention paid to your troubles and those of your peers doing the good work of keeping history front and center.
