TalonYasha Fanfic Ch1

The stars above twinkled with memories as Inuyasha sat alone, once again. The wind blowing softly through his silver hair. As he gazed at the night sky he wondered to himself how kagome was.. If she was happy. After 3 years, it's becoming harder and harder to believe she will return. A part of him wishes that one day he’ll simply catch her sweet scent on the breeze, giving him purpose once again. He gazed down sadly at his hand, imagining he might touch her once more. Just once more. His memories flooded with how it came to this..

All his love, all his pain, yet here he remains once again. Alone, just as he was before as he always will be. A shooting star caught his eye, drawing his golden eyes to the inky sky once again as he thought of kikyo. A part of him wished he had chosen to follow her.. Even now those thoughts still linger in these silent moments.

Down below he could see the smoke rising from sango and miroku's hut. The golden glow of their home illuminating the darkness Inuyasha finds himself living in, day or night.

His heart ached for that contentment, sango was due to give birth to their third child any day now. A happiness inuyasha will never know.. His eyes softened as he imagined what it must be like to even just have someone, someone who won't leave. One fate won't rip away from him so cruelly, or atleast do him the mercy of being the one to leave first.

Inuyasha took out his sheath, admiring Tetsusaiga with a fondness one would give an old friend. He slid the chipped rusty blade out. The only friend that will stay by his side. A part of him finds comfort in its presence, feeling his fathers protection and the memories it holds gives him peace. A heavy sigh left him once more and he returned to his home for the night.

The next morning as the sun rose over the hills, Inuyasha stepped out of this hut. Made by his own hands to the familiar sight of his old friend, Miroku, Approaching, with the twins following behind.  “Doggy!” The girls both lit up with excitement at seeing their dog eared friend, running up to him. Their giggles made inuyasha ears twitch in anticipation of their constant pulling. “Ngh m-morning girls..” He smiles softly, gently trying to keep them at bay as they once again reached and jumped in useless attempts to play with his ears. “Girls, you know inuyasha does'nt like when you jump on him like that, Say your sorry” Inuyasha smirked softly as the girls obeyed their father and apologized quietly. He smiled warmly and pat their heads, showing his forgiveness.

“I suppose you have another job?” He asked with a knowing smile. Miroku only ever came to see him so early in the day if he had another demon slaying job. With Naraku gone, the land has been uncommonly peaceful, save for the odd troublesome demon. More of a nuisance really, but regardless, it was good money. Miroku chuckled softly. “You got me. This one is up at the Kairume shrine. It's a bit of a ways from here, so.. If you're not busy..”

Inuyasha rolled his eyes. He knew Miroku was trying to be respectful, but he knows his friend is aware that Inuyasha has nothing to do during the day, besides work on his hut, which took a lot of his attention the past few years. Ofcourse, now that it was finished, he found it hard to fill his time.

“What’s the job?” He said curiously, trying once again to satisfy the girls need for his attention with his hands. Mirokus eyes turned serious for a moment as he spoke “There has been complaints of a demon bothering the priestesses and priests who tend the shrine. Scaring them all away. He seems to have decided to make the shrine his home” Inuyasha scoffed at that.

“Any idea what kind of demon it is? ” His question was only met with a shake of the monks head. “No, they didnt say. Only that it appears as a human in form, with horns, That's all I know” He shrugged.

Inuyashas eyes lit up. Finally, a demon worth fighting. Only demons that took on a human form were actually worth fighting. All others he could destroy with a single swing of his blade. With his interest peaked, Inuyasha picked each of the girls up in his arms. “Well, we going or not?”

Miroku smirked proudly, happy to give Inuyasha something to do.

The girls moaned with disappointment as they arrived at sango and mirokus home, grabbing onto his kimono in an effort to stay in his arms. Gyokuto, even when so far as to grip Inuyasha's ear painfully, ripping a familiar grunt of pain from the young half demon. Sango stepped outside with a stern look in her eyes. “Gyokuto, not his ears!” She sighed softly, a hand on her abdomen.

“Im so sorry Inuyasha” She eyed her young daughter, who ran inside shamefully. Soon the other twin followed, after waving goodbye to Inuyasha. Sango breathed a heavy sigh of exhaustion, looking ready to burst. “How have you been holding up?” Inuyasha asked softly. His eyes drawn to sangos belly, heavy with child. “Any day now.. Hopefully soon” She smiled warmly. “I take it you and Miroku are headed out to the shrine?”

Miroku stepped up to his wife's side, a hand rubbing her belly lovingly. “Yes we are, we should be back by this evening. Kaede will be here soon to help with the girls” He says with a loving smile, which soon turned into a mischievous smirk.. Inuyasha could what was coming a mile away.

“And when we get back. Ill make sure to give you lots of help as well” he teased, his other hand grabbing his wifes rear. Inuyasha winced and looked away moments before a familiar loud smack filled the air.

The hanyo rolled his eyes, even now, after so many years sango was never safe from her husband. Even after so long and two children, they haven't changed one bit.

Miroku rubbed his reddened cheek, once again adorned with his wifes handprint. “Don't you ever quit?” Mirkoku only laughed seeked his wife's forgiveness and affection with a series of kisses and nuzzles against her cheek. “Fear not sango, my cup of love will never empty for you”

Inuyasha gagged inwardly, Turning away. His arms crossed over his chest. He hated watching them like that, especially with how mushy Miroku would speak. His eyes darkened as he walked away, figuring Miroku could simply catch up with him when he was… finished.

The clouds drifted overhead as he walked, his gaze once again drawn to the sky with a heavy sigh. His thoughts drifted to kikyo, imagining where they would be now if fate hadn't been so cruel. He even once imagined he would find that joy again with kagome…

His ears twitched again as he heard Mirokus rushed footsteps coming up behind him.

“Hey, slow down. What's your hurry?”

Inuysaha scoffed. “You ever going to let that woman rest?” He asks simply.

Miroku chuckled and scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

“What can i say, old habits die hard”

“Keh!” Inuyasha scoffed.

Together they traveled along the road. Passing by familiar faces from the village as they went. Once away from the village they picked up their pace, dashing along the field, side by side.

Headed to Kairume shrine….
