Hello everyone, I wanted to give you an update on what paint swatches are planned for the near future, i.e., for this year:
July/August
Pro Acryl Swatch: After finally receiving the four new paint sets, I can finalise this swatch. It is expected to be released early next week here on Patreon.
Contrast / Speedpaint / One-Coat Paint Swatch: Next, I will expand my 4-in-1 swatch into a 5-in-1 swatch by adding the complete Instant Color range from Scale 75, and I will also update the individual swatches. This will ensure that my chart covers all the one-coat paints currently available on the market.
Two Thin Coats Wave 3: In August, I will receive the paints from Wave 3 and should be able to update my chart by the end of August.
September
7-in-1 Comparison Tool: Once I have mapped all the Two Thin Coats colours, I can start my major project: a 7-in-1 comparison chart that covers colours from seven paint ranges (Citadel, Warpaints Fanatic, Vallejo Game & Model Color, Pro Acryl, Two Thin Coats, AK 3rd Gen) and sorts them by colour families, just like my one-coat paint chart. Since this chart will include over 1000 colours, it will probably be an interactive PDF with clickable elements, links, and a menu. I can’t fully estimate the effort yet, because I don't just want to copy and paste the colours, but rather compare all 1000 colours with my real hand-painted swatches to ensure the best possible colour accuracy and comparability. I hope it will be ready by September or early October.
Later this year
6-Primer-in-1 Charts for Contrast, Speedpaint, and Xpress Color: After completing the major project, I plan to create new swatches for the three most popular one-coat paint ranges. Each chart will feature all the colours on six different primers: white, Wraithbone (light bone), Grey Seer (light grey), silver, gold, and Slapchop (black with grey and white dry brushing). This will likely occupy me for the rest of the year, as the effort required for each chart is considerable (the Speedpaint range alone has 89 colours – I already have the colours on white, but I need to apply them to 5 new primers, which means photographing and editing 445 colour tones :O ).
Eventually
Citadel Colour update: If I find the time, I want to update the Citadel Colour swatch and complete it with the Dry and Air paints. This has been requested by some.
Vallejo Game Color update: Here, I plan to create a second version that is not sorted by colour families but follows Vallejo’s sequence, similar to what I did with the new Model Colors.
Additional niche paint ranges: Who knows what new paint ranges will appear this and next year. I’ve heard that Formula P3 might get revamped now that Privateer Press has been acquired by Steamforged Games. We'll see, perhaps it will be worth reviewing and creating a swatch for them. Additionally, I would like to map out the Green Stuff World range (even though it’s a contentious company, their products seem to be popular), and possibly the Warpaints Air range.
You see, there’s quite a bit planned for the next few months :) My goal is to create the best paint resources on the entire internet. I’m delighted if you continue to support me on this journey with a membership. Thanks to your support, I can afford to work on my content one day a week; otherwise, it would probably take three times as long for the swatches mentioned above to be completed ;)
