Announcement

Hello folks,

there is some news regarding my Patreon: From now on, the monthly "freebies" (such as paint swatches and masterclass tutorials) will appear slightly more irregular, more like every 5 to 6 weeks. To make up for this, there will be more bonus content for posts on Tale of Painters and my YouTube videos. For example uncompressed sprue pics, like I did for my Warcry Pyre and Flood review last week, extra swatches, and much more.

Why the change?

Now that I've mapped pretty much all the major paint ranges currently available, it's just going to be harder to bring you a new swatch or tutorial every four weeks. From now on, I will be dependent on new releases. When review samples show up later than anticipated (which just happened with Pro Acrylic's new Signature Series sets or the new Vallejo Model Color), my planning goes out the window. And of course, there's the workload. As I noticed with my AK 3rd Gen swatch, it’s hard to paint and edit over 200 colours in one month without the other posts and videos suffering. In future I might need an extra week or two to cover larger paint ranges, and to push ahead with some ambitious projects I have in the pipeline:

As you can see, there is a lot planned for this year. But I need a little more flexibility from now on. I'd be delighted if you continued to support me, my content and Tale of Painters :)

PS: The next swatch will be for the new Vallejo Model Colors, which should materialise mid May. After that, there'll be Pro Acryl. In the meantime there'll be a quality upgrade for my Citadel Colour swatch, all available for Dire Avenger tier members and above :)

Good idea! The masterplan is to make individual swatches for Vallejo Model Color and Pro Acryl, and then make one big 7-in-1 comparison chart (or a multipage PDF) covering Citadel, Warpaints Fanatic, Vallejo Game and Model Color, Two Thin Coats, AK, and Pro Acryl like I did for Contrast-style paints and washes. With all yellows on one page, all orange paints, and so on, which would also cover metallics. Once I have that I can also make specialised swatches with only metallic colours and so on.

What do you think about creating supplement/dedicated swatches for specific paint types instead of whole series? I mean something like metallics or fluorescent swatches. You already have some of these covered by your existing swatches, so you could reuse existing ones and add missing like: GSW and AP warpaints fluorescent series and for metallics Vallejo metal color, Vallejo liquid metal, scale75 metallics, GSW metallics and metal pigments. It would be nice payoff with relatively smaller effort since instead of painting 100 colors you take only metallics from few series. In case of Vallejo metal color it wouldn't even require all of paints since they are very similar to each other.
