STORY TIME: Something I Think About Often 💭

This is SUCH a random post but I felt the urge to share one of my 'thoughts on life' with you all. :) Maybe this is something that happens as you grow up, but I constantly find myself thinking about the concept of 'The Butterfly Effect' and how it applies to my own life.

noun: butterfly effect: the phenomenon whereby a minute localized change in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere.

-----------------------------------------------

It sounds weird but hear me out! Have you ever been in a situation where you stop and think of what decisions in your life lead you to where you are now?

I was talking this over with my graphics designer, Greg, whom I've been working with for 6 years and he formerly did work for Krewella. My old roommate Natalie showed me a Krewella song in 2012 called 'Alive' and I fell in love with it. This lead me to end up covering 'Alive' and branching out into covering EDM tracks.

Greg knew of me from my metal covers but when he saw my cover of Alive, he reached out asking if he could share it with Krewella. This pivotal moment opened so many doors for me years later. Because I did this cover song and the right person saw it, I ended playing live with the artist. This opportunity was seen by other artists in that scene who asked me to cover their songs. Adventure Club used to tour with Krewella and saw my cover of Crash 2.0. This lead to a small test show with them and eventually the biggest show I've ever played for 5000 people at the Hollywood Palladium. If I never made a cover song of Eminem in my college dorm room for fun in 2011.. I never would have had ANY of this happen.

I never would have never met some of my absolute BEST friends that I talk to on a daily basis. Some of the most talented people that I've had the privilege of getting to know. Making original music with people that have allowed my visions to come to life. Working with brands I used to only dream of working.

On a different note, I met my past 2 girlfriends through friends that I knew through music. CRAZY. It's one of those weird thoughts that could be traced back to something simple like: "If I never went to that party/event last weekend, I never would have met this person that had a huge impact on my life."

Kristina knows this, but if her and I never became friends, I was actually planning on quitting YouTube in 2017. I'm so damn glad I didn't because 2018-2019 ended up being BY FAR my best year.

 -----------------------------------------------

I could go on about this topic forever because it's truly boundless but I would love to hear if you guys have any stories that come to mind around this subject. :) Maybe someone special you met, or a cool job you scored or anything awesome really! I LOVE THIS STUFF and I LOVE YOU GUYS. <3

I’m going to read that man! Love things like this

I think that the field of probabilities and statistics is a field that everyone should have at least a basic knowledge and understanding of. Often I am reminded of how just how vast the chances of anything happening are. Astronomical probabilities absolutely do exist and It’s sometimes awe inspiring to realize that something of that magnitude is happening. It reminds me of an essay called “Wear Sunscreen” by Mary Schmich (I definitely suggest you read it, at least once every few months, it’s short but amazing); “your choices are half chance, so are everybody else's”.

DUDE!! Loved reading your story. That’s fucking awesome. :) Made my day.

Super low self esteem early in high school. I was maybe 118 lbs and definitely the weakest kid. My dad introduced me to powerlifting, and I absolutely hated it at first. However, he said to stay with it for 3 months and then decide if I wanted to quit or not. It soon became a habit. A year later I grew by about 60 pounds and was making steady gains. My senior year of high school, I had a deadlift near the United States national teen record for deadlift for an individual who weighs 231 (I was about 226). The deadlift was about 631lbs, and I don’t know what the record is now. I had to eat like 6,000 calories a day to maintain my weight, so in undergrad I went down to about 180lbs just to make life easier. Because of powerlifting, I’ve made so many friends, made one ex-gf, and learned so many life lessons. I become comfortable with myself, and the experience completely changed my outlook on life. Without that, I doubt I would be getting ready for my doctorate in physical therapy right now. Small things can sometimes yield massive results. I’m happy you had so much success from all of your experiences! You seem like you have an awesome job, and I’m happy to be a patron for yaa :D
