Alain. Undead Cleric

Hi friends. Its been a while since my latest post with updates on September. 

We are working hard to create a set of cool looking characters for you this month. I will be announcing full list pretty soon! 

Now welcome Alain - undead cleric / witch hunter who came back to life to slain evil! Model is still not ready. I will be adding Doves to the composition.

I have developed this character based on amazing idea provided by Marcus (Reliquat28 ) - Winner of painting contest in July!

Next comes incredible and really atmospheric description of the character made by Marcus. Enjoy! 

Even among the ranks of the risen dead, some souls do not lightly give up their convictions. 

Alain is one such soul. 

A wandering cleric ordained by the ministry of his holy hand, Alain spent his life rooting out all manner of ills that would befall the peasant folk of the region. 

Burning suspected witches, unmasking changelings and purging those aberrant births the naive peasants would seek to hide and protect. Alain was not well-loved by his wards, but his faith provided all he needed. 

This lonely campaign against mundane evil continued for many years, until Alain met his match. Delivery of the Ministry’s tithes from the northernmost settlements had ceased, and the cleric took it upon himself to investigate. 

Following a trail of silent devastation, Alain soon found and was overwhelmed by the source of the evil. Even as the jagged blades of the risen dead drew out his life’s blood, Alains lips sang with prayers to his Ministry. 

Then all went dark.  

And then all stayed dark. Such time passed that what spark remained of the wandering cleric shrank and guttered. His faith, once a beacon of conviction became an ever more distant light on the horizon of this timeless void. 

Then, as his faith was moments from disappearing over the horizon, Alain awoke. 

With a dry, rattling breath, he opened his eyes, they felt dry, the breath offered no satisfaction.  

He awoke in the dark, lambent corpse light illuminated an ossuary of the dead and rotting, he could not say whether the twitching limbs were others who had arisen, or simply the result of vermin eating the corpses from within. 

Taking stock of the horror around him, Alain steeled himself and arose. He could not say much with certainty, but two things were clear to him. 

He was tainted with evil and his faith had found him wanting.  Why else was he here? The Ministry taught that everlasting paradise awaited those who died in the faith’s service. Why this had happened, Alain was unsure. Looking back over his life he had such certainty in his conviction, had he not spent his life purging the evil from these lands? 

And so Alain went forth, resolving that if had not lived up to the Ministry’s expectations in life, he would most certainly do so in death.

Description  

The risen Alain is a lone wanderer, filled with hatred for the abomination he has become, he carries all manner holy relics and icons to ward off the evil magics in his soul. 

As a wanderer, his clothes are practical and sturdy, while still showing the hallmarks of a holy man. His robes are patched with leather and metal plates, he has built a collection of holy war gear taken from the burial sites and shrines of saints and crusaders from the Ministry’s great past. 

Perhaps Alain has a holy familiar following him on his quest, like a cherub or animal familiar? Something overtly pure to help tie Alain between the undead and religious aesthetic
