COMMUNITY QUESTION
Added 2020-06-21 10:26:33 +0000 UTCHi friends, while i was working on pre-supported files i got an idea.
What if i make a public folder on SYNC where each of us can share pre-supported files with our community?
It doesn't mean ill stop doing files myself :) I will provide them every month.
It can work in case someone has made a 200-300% pre-supported version of the file and just want to hare with others. Or for busts or just characters what gona be used for painting. Also in case i am late with supports and someone wants to share them before my official release. It will be available only to Patrons
What you think about this idea? I'll make a poll and if we have the majority of votes this kind of folder will appear!
Comments
I would like it to be this way but not sure if its doable (( There is no way to check who actually has to have the permission to get earlier models. This wont be fair to all Patrons. I am thinking to update the folder every month so they stay available for one month and then erased. So far thats the only solution i see. If you have any ideas please share!

2020-06-28 08:30:45 +0000 UTCI'm assuming (and hoping) that this would be open to other users sharing their presupports for older models you made? I've been a subscriber since January so have all your beautiful sculpts - but am basically too scared to print anything that you haven't presupported :(

2020-06-26 00:16:18 +0000 UTCYeah this guy does great job on supports. I just do not have the budget to hire anyone at the moment :D

2020-06-25 17:02:55 +0000 UTCWhy not look into 3DPrintingPro? I heard he does supports for Artisan Guild's miniatures. Maybe he can be hired from Bestiarum Miniatures?

2020-06-25 16:24:58 +0000 UTCI know a guy who does amazing work for supports on titanforge. he is always looking for new clients
2020-06-24 16:43:31 +0000 UTCYeah, thanks for the suggestions ! Some descent description and preferable a photo i believe it should be sufficient. My goal is to create a place were we can share those with each other. To speed up things and save time :) Hope it will work!

2020-06-22 06:50:08 +0000 UTCAbsolutely agree! it depends on resin, printing settings and so on. It will be great if we indicate it in the file description. As example. Designed for 20-30 micron, high curing time, thin supports, tested on Elegoo mars, Anycubic resin. With this info it will be way easier to pick the one what fits you. With Chitu files also can work great in case person uses it for supporting. It would be really cool if we manage to have it going :)

2020-06-22 06:45:27 +0000 UTCYes that would be amazing to have those tested, before actually upload. Let's see how it goes with the idea. We always can introduce some rules for sharing the models. As example: to have a photo or some screenshots of the file. Maybe we can share even Chitu files. Then other users can adjust them, improve if some issues were found. Ideas ideas :)

2020-06-22 06:38:45 +0000 UTCoh yeah lets hope one day will appear an online service with artificial intelligence what will be able to make it optimal!

2020-06-22 06:26:44 +0000 UTCYeah its definitely true, the higher quality supports we have the better. The idea what guys shared with uploading some photos or description can work pretty fine. How it works with private servers on Discord? all patrons will have access to it right? and in case we share on it a link to a folder, it can leak as well cause its accessible to all patrons same as on Patreon itself. Sorry never did it before that's why i am curious how it works

2020-06-22 06:26:17 +0000 UTCNice! always better to try and see what happens! at least we will know it works or not )

2020-06-22 06:16:55 +0000 UTCThe only real protection what can be done to such files and folders is that Patrons do not share it :) I was thinking to make it at sync with link available only to patrons, same as release files and update it each month. Do you think it may work?
Alexei Popovici
2020-06-22 06:00:06 +0000 UTCI think so long as the community made supports are in a separate link (and have a naming scheme required (eg X Mini X Scale X Author name (to build reputation))) to the official stuff there will be no issues - if you're new, you stick to the official stuff, if you're looking for something different, you go through the public stuff

2020-06-21 21:00:03 +0000 UTCIf there's a way to label them with a picture of the model as well as the supported file it may help to let people see what they're getting if they use the files. The biggest issue is going to be quality control as mentioned, but over all I think it would ease some stress on you and provide something the community would use.

2020-06-21 19:04:23 +0000 UTCI floated this idea to another patreon, as they only have one guy doing their supported files, and the files, while good, were way over supported and caused massive damage to the model. Personally I think it's a good idea, but as it's been brought up, we don't want 10 different versions of the same model and someone printing out all 10 version just to find none of them worked for their set up. People will always have problems with supported files, it may print perfect for 98% of people, but there will always be a few that it doesn't work for. Many people don't have their setting dialed in correctly, so failures happen. Still, I think it's a good idea and the person printing takes responsibility for any fails, if print proof is provided from the uploader. Pretty much it boils down to, if you print a presupported model and it fails, that's on you, the uploader and Bestiarum are not liable for any failures. Also, the files should be uploaded in Chitubox format so it can be used as a base for supports and changes made if there is a failure. People tend to think free presupported files should work no matter what, this isn't the case, there are too many variables that can cause a failure.

2020-06-21 17:15:58 +0000 UTCThe poll options are a bit biased but the big issue is quality control. If someone wants to take submissions privately, test them for--or have some sort of incoming minimum requirements.. then it could work. But I for one wouldn't take random supported files to test if they will work or not.

2020-06-21 15:41:58 +0000 UTCYes. I don't care how it happens, but to me, until there's a well-done presupport available, the mini isn't yet delivered. It's crazy to be repeating the work of supporting each model, for each user. Hopefully we get a good software solve for supports in the next year or two. It's completely doable. But until then, if it's not supported, it's not delivered.

2020-06-21 14:57:09 +0000 UTCI'd appreciate this even to get supported versions of the welcome pack as had mine fail on me

2020-06-21 14:26:50 +0000 UTCIf this happens, I think a private, Patreon only discord channel should be used to share the pre-supported files to prevent these from leaking to the outside world. Also people who upload the pre-supported models should post a few pictures of the same print successfully printing multiple times to make sure the supports will work. I can't tell you how many times a pre-supported model failed or a main part of the model looked bad because the supports were automatically generated. Seeing as your sculpts are high detail, we should preserve that and only share high quality supported work.
2020-06-21 13:15:43 +0000 UTCI think this is a cool idea definitely be interesting to see where it goes. It may work it may not, but I’d be definitely down to see what happens.

2020-06-21 11:47:40 +0000 UTCYes and no. I get your idea (and I think it’s good) but imagine, in the future when you have more patrons, there are 10+ people doing pre-sup, resulting in 10+ versions of a model. This may make people confused which one we should D/L. If you have some procedures for who’s gonna upload (name, description, etc.) ,IDK, that people could understand easily, the answer is yes
