He is turning out to be a very nice person indeed. That explains his trepidation with helping Frio (cold in spanish) in the starting. I am still not so clear on the reason why he was helping him. Was it just black male about the gay thing?

He saw both sides of the ugly world so young expecting nothing more than that from such a young age. He truly thought that Rochi was like the rest, but he isn't. Braden is now holding Rochi in exception. He now understands what he has here, a true friend or possibly more. Rochi wants nothing but the one thing Braden is finally able to give him, himself. Braden was truly perplexed at the fact that Rochi actually wanted to go out with him again for dinner. As if that sort of thing was unexpected. I think Braden is also is struck by Rochi as well as he did not comment negatively about Rochi's comment about him being a rich jerk sometimes. It means he liked his honesty. Braden is a nice person at least to Rochi and he told him as such that he noticed. Braden did not respond to that comment but I can imagine that he had a shocking thought of "shit he starting to catch on!".

2018-01-04 01:12:59 +0000 UTCBraden is getting very interesting. I can see a lot of bits and pieces falling in to place about him. His youth would have been spent being defined by his Dad, and his Dad's money. Praise from others to curry favors with his dad, requests for money because his Dad has plenty, and friendships based on who his dad was.. not who Braden is. Plus experiencing the other side where people are ridiculed behind their backs would make him very distrustful of people. Who knows if they are honest.. or fake and just trying to get something from him. At least with Rocky he is starting to realise that Rocky is up front and honest. Willing to call him a jerk if necessary, plus willing to treat him as Braden.. not Braden the tennis star with lots of money. I think this openness will be great for both of them. Now Nashan.. I'm not sure if he has gaydar and it pinged when meeting Rocky.. But certainly his openness and acceptance of the player will go a big way to helping Rocky and Aliq. His concentration is on tennis - and not what happens off court so long as it does not interfere with Tennis. Be interesting to see his coaching style, and learning more about him in upcoming chapters :) Great chapter and thanks for sharing.
