Behind the Scenes: Milk Delivery
Added 2025-06-05 18:21:27 +0000 UTCBefore I even started drawing and animating last month's "Milk Delivery" animated movie, there was a LOT of prep work that needed to be done first.
• Write the script
• Record voices
• Draw storyboards
• Research and download music
• Research and download some sound effects
• Bring all of the above together and make an animatic to get the base feel, pacing, and scope of the movie.
Google defines an animatic as: a rough, preliminary version of an animation or video, often including drawings or images, voiceover, and sound effects, that is used to test the pacing, timing, and overall flow of a sequence or project. It's a step between storyboarding and full animation or video production, helping filmmakers get a sense of what the final product will look and sound like.
Check out the animatic for Milk Delivery. You will notice some differences:
• Early versions of voices (half were re-recorded or added to).
• Music is inserted along with some sound effects.
• Not all scenes are represented (a few new ones were inspired and added during the animation production).
• Yes, the storyboards are very rough drawings (I was excited to get started without wasting too much time 😁 )
