Post Vacation Update
Added 2019-07-04 08:07:57 +0000 UTCI apologize for the sad sounding update I made yesterday regarding coming back from vacation early. It's not that I didn't want to come back, but rather the vacation didn't quite live up to the expectations I had set for it. It was completely my fault, though! I thought a single game would keep me busy a whole week and chill me out, but I found it was causing me issues on two fronts:
1. It was stressing me out! I thought it would relax me, but I felt a lot of pressure to do well in various parts of the game, causing me to play for long periods of time at high intensity, which made me to feel burned out all over again. Oof.
2. The part of the game I was excited the most about wasn't implemented well, and efforts I made to fix it didn't pan out, leading me to feeling frustrated and defeated.
It's a lesson learned: don't build a vacation around one thing!
What I'm going to do instead is give myself permission to take days off more often. At least once per week. I think that'll be better for me, and for my art.
