Hey guys! i hope youre all good.
heres what I have managed to draw/ finish this weekend. Hopefully this evening I shall have some more time to work on amother YCH or commission!
I am entering an art competition too! Deadline is Wednesday so I shall prioritise my drawing for that this evening. We have to sketch a building from the 1940s-1970s of our choice that sparks our interest and I have chosen to draw These extremely fascinating flats. I know sooo many people hate brutalist buildings, but I have always loved them. When you look beyond the ‘ugly’ concrete and dive deeper, theyre very interesting. So much more interesting than a lot of architecture you see today. A lot of brutalist buildings have been labeled as a symbol of social and economic decline and whilst i agree with this to an extent, these buildings are often misunderstood! At time of building, there was excitement and optimism that is often overlooked. Anyway, I could go on and on

These are the flats I will be sketching for the contest. Go on… call me crazy, so many people think its bonkers that this is one of my favourite buildings.
With some regeneration and imaginaction, I believe these flats could have so much potential and I am glad that architects have realised this and have regenerated these flats.
ramble over, Have a lovely Sunday!
