Hey all - I'm back with a quick late night update on how I've been spending my modding time this week.

Spinning Wheel

I think it's finally done! I'm going to sleep and then triple checking for bugs tomorrow morning, but barring anything huge I missed, it should be out tomorrow. This mod was supposed to be the "small mod" of the month, but some things that I thought wouldn't take long at all wound up eating up a lot of my time. I'm never sad when things take longer though because I always learn new things I didn't know before!

One big thing I was working on was overriding the knitting and cross-stitch recipes with the new thread and yarn objects crafted at the spinning wheel. Initially, I had planned to have it just generally take any thread or any wool, but then I thought it would be cooler to have the colors matter too.

When poking around in script, I realized there's a built in method for cloning and overriding existing ingredients. This method is available on a number of other object types, and could be useful for other mods. (Probably old news to better coders, but a delight to discover for me!)

After that, I worked on making all of the recipes so that the thread and yarn are all craftable, and can optionally use the same colored wool as an ingredient.

Finally, I wanted to build in something for simmers who like to play with a bit of whimsy. If you have Realm of Magic, spellcasters can now "Cast Spinning Wheel Curse" on newborns while still in the bassinet, and when they become teens they can prick their finger on the spinning wheel, which will cause them to immediately fall asleep. They will only autonomously do so once, but you can continue to direct them to do so as a player through their teenage years.

Ballet

For the ballet mod, it's a somewhat small thing - but I textured a tutu this week. :) I'm looking forward to this being my primary focus now that the Spinning Wheel is finally finished.
