WIP Video about PCR - Kindly Requesting Feedback

Coming soon: a video about the man who took LSD and saved millions!

We'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions as we finalise this video.
Animations are still in progress, but we've included storyboards to give a sense of what we'll be showing.

Thank you so much!

A couple of further points: 1. At 30.41, you say over 330k, but the headline shows 300k; 2. At the end, you introduce the very interesting point about the human mind being freed up following automation of tasks, but then the video ends abruptly. "Wow that's got me thinking... Oh, the video's finished!" Extend a bit to feed viewers' speculation?

I enjoyed this story to the end And my degree’s in music I look at the colored shape notes on a dna half string and see other uses Instrument loudness pitch duration and tone on one line Hmmm

Love the seventies computer monitor sketch I worked many hours with those

Cartoons are oddly confusing about which are phage and which are good cells It looks like standard drawings for them but it’s hard to follow And my phone isn’t letting me do punctuation Bother

I like the connection of free/play time as an avenue to new and creative ideas. It was abrupt though and could use a bit more lead in. Do you and your team take or make free time to come up with the next seeds for new videos? Does anyone come in on Monday morning rev'ed up with a new idea?

I met Karry Mullis while I was at Salk Institute in San Diego working on another project. My project was High-Throughput Cell Prep using some automation (robotics). (I.e. from cell to DNA in 20 min ) This was in 1994 or something

Might want to add a note on Fred Faloona if you really don't have a photo of him

Thank you for another information-packed video! The point of Karry Mullis making a discovery based on his use of hallucinogenic drugs is atypical of what is most likely to happen to someone who uses hallucinogenic drugs--that expectation is that you will "not" find success and fame.

You mentioned that the original test of PCR did not work on human DNA because it was too complex. Why is bacterial DNA less complex? It’s just four base pairs like ours?

Patrick W. Gilmore

Ah the delicious irony that the first person to see critters living in boil water has the last name Freeze. As unpleasant a person as Mr. Mullis was, I think this episode dwells a little too much on him and it diminishes the learning aspect of what PCR is, how it came about and its impact. Yes, his character *is* part of the story, but I wouldn't mind if it got less attention on a science-learning focused channel. Also, the interspersal of Jerry Springer clips et al during the first comments from Mr. Nasser felt unnecessary. "How do you read DNA ..." followed by an onslaught of rapid-cuts was a bit distracting.

Kimberly Green

Really a great summary of PCR, and the incredibly odd Kary Mullis. The only suggestion I have is to see if you can fit in some of the "PCR Song" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5yPkxCLads), one of the best science music videos I have ever seen!
