Deleted Scene from Blue LEDs

We wanted to give y’all a glimpse into the making of this video—so here’s a little deleted scene! This was a delightful surprise I only found out halfway through work on the script. We ultimately cut it because it took too much time away from the central story, but it’s still near and dear to my heart.
We’ve seen tons of people in the video comments saying that they also worked on the blue LED back in the day. It really was one of the biggest unsolved problems of the 80s and 90s!

It is easier to find low cost materials which efficiently absorb higher frequency light (blue) and re-emit it as lower frequency (red, green). Special circumstances are required for materials to absorb multiple low energy/frequency photons and re-emit them as a higher energy photon.
