Sneak preview! I'd love your input

Hey! So I'd like to post the final version of this video tomorrow. But first I need your help.

Feel free to make general suggestions or if you're looking for something to guide your feedback, try this:

0. Overall impressions

1. What you like / want to see more of

2. What you don't like or what's confusing/disorganized

3. Any other comments/questions you have - what would you like to know that isn't explored in the video?

Thank you!

Derek

Might be an idea to add just a little detail to how cover is used in the tailings ponds...

I think it's a nice idea putting solar panels on such places where we don't want the sun, as opposed to putting solar on soil where the light is required by the plants. Probably maintenance would be a pain, and also you would need to keep the birdies away so they don't poop in the drinking water!

Around 1:36 there's an odd video stutter maybe due to stabilization effect? At 2:00ish you may want to subtitle the off-screen lady speaking it can be a little hard to hear. Great video, and something I was unaware of, so thanks!

Kevin

Very interesting. I wasn't able to understand the lady's comment at the end where she was waiting for you to compare it to ??? - didn't catch the phrase/word, you laughed as you understand, but didn't repeat it, so I'm left with having missed the big punchline of the video.

I might be good to comment on the recyclability of the balls at the end of their lifespan- and how much actual MASS of HDPE is being used?

Overall it held my interest and kept me curious about something I never thought I'd be curious about! Seems you've already addressed a lot of feedback; the version I just watched only had a couple of minor things I noted - I think the pacing could be a little tighter in the first minute; there were a few seconds of dead space that could go. And I might boost the audio a bit on the woman in the boat. I'm also curious about the physics of driving a boat through these things. Why do some balls get "stuck" right next to the motor? Why do they come back in place so quickly?

Frank Kane

I liked the video quite a lot, and the guy who gives the explanations from 2:10 onwards (yes, he needed that name tag) is pretty articulate. I agree, though, that the end is too abrupt. When the video ended, I went immediately to check if it had been interrupted for some reason.

I wonder when they will stick solar on the surface. If it's on stilts, it should mix well with the balls.

The immediate question is still... how about microplastic? They surely last a loooong time. But not forever. Then what? Throw them all away?

Martin Embeh

Then you give the answer, but it is weird. You asking and answering the question in a conversation.

Martin Embeh

1:16 you ask a question, then the answer is cut-off

Martin Embeh

about 34 cents a ball so $35-40 million for the whole project

I do have drone shots. I thought there were a few in the draft. I can try to make them more prominent...

I've got the name and title tag on screen now...

Great video about new and "strange" solution to unexpected problem! How to remove the old shade balls when need to be renewed? How much does it will cost?

I assume this has killed off the ecosystem in the pond? Which is okay here -- not everything natural is good for our water supply. Also, I think the woman said "boba" at the end, a word I'd never heard before. Maybe superimpose a bubble tea for a moment, at that point? Also, though probably too late for this video, this sort of situation seems ideal for a drone shot to communicate the scale, perhaps in a dramatic zoom-out exit shot.

Norman Margolus

Who's the guy at 2:10? You never introduce him.
