When two satellites were accidentally launched into elliptical orbits in 2014, scientists rushed to take advantage of their eccentric orbits to make the best test of general relativity. They found that clocks on board did indeed tick faster at higher altitudes and slower at lower altitudes as measured by clocks on Earth.
