I learned a lot through making this video about common types of codes and security features and also how they can be tricked. I think there's a lot of fascinating stuff here so I hope you agree.

I'm baffled that these Garage doors don't use proper cryptography. This would be quite easy: Put a smartcard in the door opener. Then the protocol goes like this: * The door sends a random message encrypted with the public key of the opener and signed by the door * The opener decrypts the message, encrypts it with the public key of the door and signs it, then sends it back to the door * The door verifies the signature and checks if the same random message has been sent back. Please understand the above as a general idea, not a fledged out protocol, since there are probably more details that have to be taken into account.
