New Video: Neutron Star Merger!
Added 2017-10-17 05:12:57 +0000 UTCThe big science news of the day is the detection of a neutron star merger 130 million light years away using gravitational waves and all parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. This is one of the things I (and a lot of other people) have been waiting for LIGO to detect and announce.
I haven't talked to Prof. Rana Adhikari yet but when I do I'll let you know how excited he is.

I do wonder if it is possible to predict within a range, how many tonnes of these heavy elements would have been created in the merge.
