NEW VIDEO: Schlieren imaging in color!

A few months back I asked for your suggestions of what to put in front of my Schlieren setup. I have now tried a few, even lighting a ping-pong ball on fire. I adjusted the setup so it is now a color schlieren (although in a budget sort of way because I used cellophane). I am still keen to image the Leidenfrost effect in Schlieren so I will do my best to make that happen.

In the first part of this video I try to answer a lot of the questions I received after posting the first video. I also show that the setup can be used to project Schlieren images on a screen or wall surface.

Wow! This is very well done. Excellent results! Remembering when I was a kid, reading about Schlieren imaging in an encyclopedia, and 1960s science books my dad brought home. Illustrations, diagrams in books just don't convey enough. Long live Youtube!

Inspired! Per usual.

For example... I am watching a chemistry lecture now professor of Chemistry the composition of molecules and atoms... Videos of color showing this arrangement in 3D... 🤔

Hi, Derek! In one of your videos you talked about a way to improve the education on classes for not to be a kind of "punishment" and instead a pleasure and interesting. What about a proposal of research using the students using pieces of some medias from YouTube for illustration of a subject... There are many good videos... You could measure by tests immediately the students in end of classes It have to be the same Professor and class. Alternating the days. If it will be possible to collect this data to improve. I used to watch videos lectures . They are practical the same when I was in my Medicine school in 20 years ago. What about of using pieces of videos to illustrate instead of boring diagrams and Tables.... It still so old this kind this "actual" pedagogical methodology. 🤔

How about re-igniting an extinguish candle by putting a flame in the smoke coming off it?
