A video two years in the making...

The uncomfortable effort of thinking: how we learn and why we sometimes make stupid mistakes.

Some of these scenes were shot in early 2015 - I have been trying to make this video since then, but I needed dedicated time to work on it. Thankfully that time has finally come. I hope you enjoy this video as it is something I have slaved over.

Your closing words on this video have become my current favorite quotation. I've posted the video in an online course I'm teaching and on my FB wall. Great work!

Just getting around to this. Coincidentally, I'm now re-reading _Thinking, Fast and Slow_. The central point of the book is still valid (I think), but I began to recognize in some of the psychology research Kahneman cites studies that have since suffered replication failures (including the difficult-to-read-font research cited in the video). Food for thought: https://jasoncollins.org/2016/06/29/re-reading-kahnemans-thinking-fast-and-slow/ and https://jasoncollins.org/2016/05/11/bad-behavioural-science-failures-bias-and-fairy-tales/. By the way, I agree 100% with the central point of your video. My brain is lazy, and it wants to take the easy way out. I think it's trying to avoid burning glucose. :^)
