NEW CHANNEL! (Sneak peek)

I'm launching a new video tomorrow about the Mpemba Effect - the idea that warm water can freeze faster than cold water (does it?)

Even more exciting than that - this video is on a new channel that no one has seen yet. It's called: Sciencium (an element of knowledge). So I invite you to go check out that video now, and if you like it, subscribe to the new channel. You could be in the first thousand!

Why am I making a new channel?

Three reasons:

1. Because I want to make more videos about science discoveries in a particular format where it's just me, a background, and graphics/images to support the story.

2. I think this should be kept separate from Veritasium where I want to aim to DO experiments, visit places, interview people and experts, just generally get out in the world.

3. This reason is top secret. I promise you'll know before anyone else.

Like anything this channel is an experiment. If people don't want to watch these sorts of videos I will stop making them and just focus on Veritasium. Regardless I don't want to take my attention off Veritasium so it will remain my number one priority.

Anyway, hope you enjoy. Feel free to leave feedback here or on the new video.

All the best,

Derek

So you're saying, once you remove all the variables that make it a real-world problem, then the effect disappears. Thus, the effect is perfectly real, but it occurs in complex conditions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_system#Features

BTW In the ice cream "experiment" The results could be skewed quite a bit by the placement of the dishes. If they were crowded together (as was implied by the young man hurrying to get a spot in the freezer) the warmer sample will be losing heat to the cooler samples, thus delaying their freezing.
