This is by far my favorite that I've heard so far and it was so well written and executed. The ending was probably the sweetest thing I've ever heard, so touching and heartfelt. VAs can add their spin and ab-lib which can be lost in translation. In the script, The listener is confident in themselves but even the most confident person may need reassurance. Reassurance is not a weakness or diminishes someone’s confidence. However, it seemed the Al-lib praises may have missed the marked it seems. That was not the intention of the writer. Our apologies. To answer your question: Yes, BKS does hire and has a diverse group of writers with ranging body types. I want to make that very clear. We have writers who are chubby, who suffer from mental illness, who are LGBTQA, non-binary, struggle with physical disabilities, faced or continue to face trauma etc. For example: I’m Alexis Fire. I’m a black woman who is over 200lbs and suffers from depression. I written a script with Mr. Chambers called “I want to see all of you baby,“ I wrote that script specifically when I was feeling awful about my stretch marks and my body rolls during the pandemic. The writer (with her permission) falls into that category. She doesn’t shy from that. Ellie knows what is like. She fights for body positivity each day because she knows what’s it like to be judge solely on physically attributes when you don’t look like society’s mold. She’s one of the best people who write a script like this. But this should be lesson for all us: We must be careful to make the assumption that just because the audio may have missed components or phrases that person may not be of the marginalized group. As a fellow big girls, we are not all created equal. She provides her perspective which has aligned with others. Sometimes, it may hit with some… and…sometimes it may miss with others. But please do not assume that if the script does not vibe with you , it’s because the script writer isn’t apart of that group. Because , in this case, it was far from the truth. Incorporating vulnerability is great, we all have moments when we feel less than attractive, and certainly in this scenario of being stood up there is opportunity there....but it felt like the script pushed too hard on that. There were some jarring and weird moments where the 'body positivity' sounded incredibly awkward (like the deep down/layers of skin lines) but the ending helped with context. Nervous Mr. Robinson was lovely. Would BKS consider hiring writers from a diversity of body types (if you don't already), or maybe do a poll or other form of feedback specifically on what plus size people look for in positive/affirming erotic content and how it's the same or different than the mainstream? Some things are different, sure...but being desired, being seen, heard and respected...those things are universal.
