Your mind buzzed, filled with thoughts that just wouldn’t stop. Half formed ideas and brainwaves cycled in an endless competition for your attention, none of them able to get purchase in your head for long. Your partner had walked into the room. “What’s wrong, toy?”

The question hangs in the air between you. Nothing was wrong, strictly speaking. You were just having a hard time with your brain. You shrugged. “I’m just struggling to focus. My brain isn’t in the right headspace.” You turned to them, apologetically.

You were meant to be done twenty minutes ago, but since sitting down, your mind hadn’t stopped moving. It was focusing on everything but the task you had come in here to do. Your partner’s smile was disarming, you had expected them to be upset at you.

But they just came over, and embraced you. “Do you want a hand with that silly little head of yours?” They asked. You nodded, and they pulled up a chair. “Okay toy, well in that case, I guess it’s time for your brain to go bye-bye for a second.”

The phrase sent you spiralling away into trance in a clear show of their power over you. Your mind was instantly blank, clear. It felt so liberating, no thoughts. Just an empty head. “That’s it. Mind clearing for me, allowing me to direct you.” You felt their hand in your hair.

“So what I need you to do for me, is to let yourself focus. Keep your mind clear, and focus on the one thing that matters right now. Me. Focus on me. You can do that. You’ve done it so many times before. It’s easy, isn’t it?” Your head nodded softly, and they laughed.

“That’s right. So, in a second, I’m going to bring you up, and as I do, that sense of focus will remain. Your mind will still be clear of distractions, and you’ll find yourself able to focus on the task before you, oh so easily. And when you’re done, you’ll come and find me. Now, awake!”
