Captivating

Their hands entwined in yours, holding you still, facing them. You could watch their eyes forever. They were so captivating. In that moment, the rest of the party faded away. It was all you could do to not sink to your knees before them. They smiled, knowingly.
This whole party was for you, after all. But it wouldn’t do to just drop to your knees infront of all your guests. So you stayed upright. Each of you, sharing this moment, having found each other in the chaos, was bliss. It couldn’t last for long. Soon you’d have to turn away.
Back to the party. But for now, you held on, just a moment longer. Each lost in one another’s gaze. Knowing that when this was done, the two of you could get to celebrating your birthday together, in your own tradition. Finally, you broke apart. Time to get back to hosting.
