Paralysis Potion
Added 2022-03-13 09:18:29 +0000 UTCBased on a scene I recently did at a munch, where I drank a "Paralysis potion." Enjoy!

The rest of the room had disappeared. It was just you, and them, and the drink in your hand. Or was it just a drink? Your mind was spiralling, swimming with their words. The bubbles in the glass were floating up, up, up and away, popping, just like your thoughts.
You were so focused on their words, on the drink in the glass. “And it’s so easy to focus, isn’t it?” You nodded your head. “And we know you’ve already drunk from this glass. But – you know that something different will happen, the next time you drink from it.”
That made sense. It all made sense. Everything they said made sense right now. “The next time you drink it, you’ll feel one of your limbs freeze. Stuck in place. And each sip after will take away another limb, until the only one left is the one holding the drink.”
They brought you up, back to the room, of people watching you. And placed the drink in your hand. “Take a sip, won’t you?” They asked. You did. And felt one of your legs freeze. Another sip, your other leg, immobilised. The liquid had turned to iron in your veins.
One more sip, and your free arm was stuck as well. They laughed at the look on your face, and took your frozen hand. “I wonder what happens if I do this?” They said, lifting the arm, and releasing it. It hung there, in the air. Immobile, stuck. It felt so good to lose control.
“And I wonder what will happen with your next sip?” They asked, lowering your hand back to your lap. As you raised the glass to your lips, they kept on musing. “Maybe your other arm will get stuck?” The liquid had just touched your lips, as your arm froze.
The room giggled. You must have looked a little foolish, stuck, with a drink to your lips. Unable to move. Unable to do anything but lose control. But it was only temporary. They took back the glass, they removed the suggestions, and the room applauded.
