Fluttering
Added 2021-10-11 17:04:21 +0000 UTCA piece about fractionation, by waving their hand infront of your face.

Their hand was in front of your eyes. The colour of their nail varnish sparkled in the light from around the room. You felt your gaze caught. And then they started speaking. “That’s it. Follow my fingers as they move before your eyes. Don’t look away, don’t let your eyes close.”
Your eyes were locked on their fingers as they began to move, fluttering, up, and down, left to right, movements that became patterns that flowed into one another. And all the while your eyes were transfixed. You couldn’t look away. There was nowhere else for your focus to be.
They had been speaking all the while. “Do you know, an interesting fact – that when our eyes look up, our mind comes a little bit up, a little bit out of trance.” Their fingers moved up, above your head. You had to move your neck to keep them in view.
“Conversely,” they continued “when our eyes are drawn downwards, we tend to sink a little deeper. Feel a bit more relaxed, feel the temptation to drop down.” Their fingers quickly dropped down, and again, your eyes followed, nearly closing, but you fought the temptation.
“And you can feel that, can’t you? Feel your mind, like a yo-yo on a string, bouncing up and down, as my fingers move up and down.” You could. It felt like your mind was unravelling, a little more with every movement of their fingers up, and down.
By this point, every time you had to bring your eyes a bit further up, it was more difficult. Every time they closed, it was a little quicker, a little easier to slip deeper. Until, with one final motion, their hand went further down than before, and your eyes closed fully.
