You're out on your third date with this new person that you're seeing, and their necklace keeps catching your eye. Making you stop thinking.

You were very aware of the necklace that they were wearing. You kept catching sight of it over dinner. Every time, you’d feel your thoughts stop, just for a second. You didn’t know why, it just felt… Right. It felt right to stop thinking when you looked at the necklace’s charm.

This was your third date, and things were going great. They were good company, funny, easy to listen to. When they asked you to come back to their place, you said yes. Your texted a friend to let them know where you were going, but you didn’t expect that you’d need them.

As the taxi drove you back, they kept talking, and the streetlights would occasionally catch the necklace, once again causing your thoughts to halt. When you stepped into their apartment, they smiled, and pulled the necklace from around their throat.

“So, this has been catching your eye again, huh?” They said. You couldn’t speak. You couldn’t think. A soft gasp escaped your lips, as you followed the necklace, letting them lead you to a soft chair. And there, they began to speak to your mind, which was so open to their words.

You had been fractionating yourself the whole night, letting the necklace drop you a little deeper every time. And now? Now your mind was so pliable for them. So easy for them to program. But that was okay. You wanted this. You had agreed to it, even if you couldn’t remember now.
