Slimed

* * *
You stumble backwards, throwing up your shield as the slime lashes out. You were safe, but realised your mistake, as with a terrible strength, the shield is pulled, and you, still attached to it, are dragged forwards. “Awh, human, trying to block? Cute!” The slime coos.
You manage to get the shield detached from your arm, but you are now closer to the main body of the slime than you would like. You raise your axe, ready to hack at any encroaching pseudopods, and regret your choice to take this contract.
But no attack comes. Instead the slime retreats, forming itself back into a humanoid form, holding your shield, looking at it, carefully. “This is really pretty, isn’t it?” they ask, their translucent eyes meeting yours. You don’t respond, you know you aren’t safe.
You tighten your grip on your axe as they turn the shield around, letting it catch the sun. You reflexively put a hand up to your eyes as the light dazzles you, and you are sure that you’re done for. They’ll be on you.
But they aren’t. They’re giggling.
“Oh! Sorry human… How rude of me. Let me see if I can help with that.” You see some of their slime envelop the shield, and now the sun’s glare isn’t so blinding. In fact, now it’s a soft shimmering blue, reflecting through the slime covering the shield.
They twist and turn the shield, making a pattern of light cascade through the slime. “There we are. See how pretty it is? How soft and calming the light is? Like soothing blue water, that you can relax into at the end of a long day.” Your grip on your axe haft weakens.
Has the shield gotten closer? “Just let yourself relax, you must be tired from all that fighting we were doing. Wouldn’t you rather rest a moment?”
At these words, you shake yourself, trying to fight the waves of lethargy that are washing over you.
The slime seems to notice your sudden change of state. “Oh now, hush, I’m not going to hurt you. You just seem ever so tired. Ever so weak, and it must be all of that fighting. I can’t imagine anything else would have made you so weak.”
As they keep talking, you feel your axe slipping from your grip. You try to hold on, but your fingers feel clumsy, and as you try, the axe thuds to the ground. You bend down to try to grab it, but the motion sets you off balance, and you trip forwards, onto your knees.
You look up, and see the shield, shimmering before you, a few feet away now. “Unless… You’re weak for me, human. Is that it? Do you get weak for monsters? It’s okay, hush now.” Your dazed mind suddenly feels tendrils of slime wrapped around your wrists, and ankles.
The slime is giggling again, as you feel yourself lifted up, and pulled closer. A single tendril of slime slithers into your lips, and you taste euphoria on your tongue. You moan softly, and begin to suck, as the slime laughs. “Oh human, you’re going to like this, I’m sure of it.”
