The new VR game was fun. The lights, the visuals, the sound design, all came together to create a particularly… Enchanting experience. And the difficulty was just right. Challenging, but you learnt how to overcome each level, and go on to the next. And the next.
And before you knew it, the hours had slipped by. And you couldn’t stop playing. You didn’t want to stop playing. If you stopped playing, you wouldn’t get to feel the joy of playing. You were close to beating the final level when you noticed a new level portal. It looked different.
A spiral span in its depths. Was this a secret, that you had found? You entered. And found yourself engulfed in the spiral. The rest of the game clicked into place. The lights, the soft ambient noises, it had all lead to this. And you sank to your knees as the words appeared in the spiral.
As the voice began to play in your ears. Dropping you into conditioned submission, as the last of your will was washed away, and the programming began in earnest. You would be a good drone. Obedient, full of pleasure, and bliss. Ready to comply.
The best drone. And when your programming was complete, you’d be able to get the new headset. The special headset, that you could show to your friends. So they could know the joy of being good drones too. So that you could be good drones together. Just… One more level first.
