Flipped

You caught it, as it span, shining through the air, and then opened your palm.
Heads.
You focused more intently on the coin, as you came up, those delicious trancey feelings falling away.
Ready for the next flip.
Letting the coin spring from your thumb, up towards the ceiling.
The way the light caught each side as it span dazzling your mind.
But you caught it. Maybe not as deftly as when you had started this, but you caught it.
And then you saw what it was.
Tails.
And you felt your mind drop, your body felt so heavy. You tried to stay focused, you knew the next flip was coming.
It took so much effort, for you to flick the coin into the air, but you did it, and then found that you had no energy left to catch it.
As the coin sank through the air, past your hand, so too did your mind. Dropping down deep into trance, as your eyes closed, and your partner caught you before you could fall, pulling you into them, gently, softly. They had been right, a coin worked just as well as any other shiny object.
