Coil

* * *
Your mind was wound up. Tight. You could feel your thoughts, coiled like a spring in a watch. Moving too fast, so hard to keep up with them. As your partner spoke, the coil loosened a bit. As they swung a pocket watch before your eyes, you were transfixed.
You knew that the pocket watch was your mind. In this moment. The slower it swung, the looser your mind became. The looser your mind became, the fewer thoughts could be kept inside. And it was slowing. Slowing down. You could feel the coil of your mind, giving up.
Giving up the stresses of the day. Giving up your tension. Loosening away. You couldn’t move your body at this point. Not that that mattered. You just wanted to keep watching. To keep listening. To become more and more unwound.
More and more relaxed. Thoughts slipping out through the spring in your mind’s ever loosening coils. Finally, the pocket watch’s chain was at it’s longest, and it was swinging so… Slowly. And your thoughts were moving so… slowly. They were draining out.
Out of your mind. Until, finally. The watch stopped moving. Caught, by your partner. Who, as they explained, was now holding your unwound mind, in their hand. To shape as they pleased. You couldn’t express it, but if you could, you’d have been smiling in anticipation.
