Counting

“Counting makes it hard to think.
The more I count, the more I sink.
One.”
Your brain reeled.
“Counting makes it hard to think.
The more I count, the more I sink.
Two.”
Floating downwards.
“Counting makes it hard to think.
The more I count, the more I sink.
Three.”
You were vaguely aware of your hypnotist counting with you, as your mind sank into sweet sleepy trance. Each number feeling like a sledgehammer to your mind. Shattering your thoughts.
“Count-counting makes it hard to th-think.
The-the more I count, the more I s-sink.
Four.”
You were struggling to form the words, your whole body was so relaxed.
“Counting… Makes… It… Hard… To… Think…
The… more… I… count… the… more… I… sink...
Five.”
And with that, your mouth could no longer move. But the mantra still went on in your thoughts. After a certain point, you weren’t even aware of that. But it still kept driving you deeper.
Sinking you deeper into this sweet oblivion, where free will was gone, replaced with obedience and submission.
