JULY UPDATE 3/3 I WAS BORN TO WORK RETAIL

Hi! Welcome! There's been a lot more Patrons after the last announcement! Hi to everyone who just joined the Patreon! Every month there will be two updates to both the Koishi Project (Big in progress animation), and I Was Born To Work Retail (ongoing comic series). These two projects balance each other out with the amount of time I put into them, but in the meantime the Koishi Project is on track to finish production.

Comic Improvements

Stakes are higher after the last comic! The comic series has been building up to this point in time. I hope in the next couple of issues I will be able to introduce the stakes properly in the comic and have both Zoey and Jenny have antagonists that they have to go against.

Both characters in a way have to fight their own demons on why they ended up working such a lame job in the first place. I'll dive into the social culture in Hong Kong which pushes young kids still in school to burn out and become really sad, disfunctional adults.

Broken dreams and crushed ambitions personified, in a... fun evil way lets say haha

I hope to introduce more memorable characters to the comic series in the future! I also hope that I can branch off into different arcs to focus on besides Jenny and Zoey, since it does get a bit stale to focus soley on these two characters so heavily.

Color Choices

 I like the contrast between blue and the red symbolism in the comic. I will put more empthais on this. I also think that I can do things a bit more creatively. Right now most of the heavy color symbolism has been focused on the lighting itself. I think that's too on the nose in certain cases, so I'm going to just encorporate more of these elements into the props in the background itself. Like a blue flower, cup, red roses, more subtle contrasts instead.

 I hope the mystery of the comic doesn't overstay it's welcome as well. I like leaving things off with cliffhangers and all that jazz, but if I do it too much without tying up a couple of loose ends along the way, then the whole story will feel unsatisfying and a slog to just go along. I will try and do my best in the future to be aware of this and have a nice balance of both really interesting cliffhangers, and satifying character endings.

Future Material

Will focus more on the plot of IWBTWR instead of the light hearted 6 panel comics in the current arc. When the current manager baby formula arc ends (hopefully in the next two issues) we will have the status quo reformed again and have some peace so that the 6 panel lighthearted gag comics will come back and let the audience breath in the meantime.

I haven't done a proper announcement yet but I will when I have a proper promo animation in the future. So treat it right now as a soft launch before I have the promo material ready for both Youtube and Twitter.

Thank you all for the support!! Will the new patrons, the comic is really close on it's way to be able to financally sustain itself! Background color artist payments will be really easy for me to manage. I'm currently trying to find a way to have the comics come out at a more consistent basis without sacificing the quality of the writing.
