Great Puazi Lore Document v0.7

You can just skip below to the 'overview' section if you just want the skinny.

Long ago, as a challenge to myself, I came up with an idea of a sexy alien species called the Puazi who get unreasonably horny when in the presence of humans. I drew a comic about one of them, and a couple more images about some others. After that I decided to drop the idea forever for two reasons: One, they are a pain in the ass to draw. Two, the Puazi concept is really fucking grim if you think about it beyond the surface level. That whole species is a consent nightmare.

While I don't have any problems with stories that rely on porn logic, or non-con, I prefer to write stories that are more psychologically realistic and on the consensual side. So I stayed away from the HR nightmare, orange deer people... But I never quite stopped thinking about them, because they're fucking fun! Maybe that's why they are one of the most popular ideas I've ever come up with? It's been ten years since I drew that comic, and I still see new fanarts pop up.

Now that I started writing smut, I've been thinking about these orange freaks more and more. If I want to write a story about them, I don't have to measure the effort in hundreds of panels where I have to get their horns and patterns right... I can just draw one or two illustrations per story and call it a day. That makes them way more attractive to me as an artist recovering from RSI.

Which leaves the consent/silliness problem... Which can be addressed by adding and changing a couple of elements to the setting. Now that I think about it, the idea of aliens living amongst humans, while dealing with differing views on sex and intimacy is quite interesting. You can squeeze some interesting storytelling out of it.

Which brings us to what this document is. A ten years later soft reboot of the Puazi species. Now with LORE and CONSENT and GRAVITAS

(Now watch nobody caring because silliness and non-con was why people liked the idea to begin with :D)

I consider everything I wrote in this post a second draft and not really finished yet. I am open to changing almost anything here if a better idea strikes me or is suggested. I don't normally write out my worldbuilding ahead of time. I prefer to come up with it as I need it.

I am writing all this for the benefit of people that like the idea of Puazi and want to know more, to make their own OC's or whatever they feel like it. I am open to suggestions.

I decided not to try to make any of this make sense from an evolutionary point of view. All of the Puazi biology and psychology are shaped towards the end result of being good porn fodder and less so to be consistent. I might change my mind about it in the future, but for now that's how I am looking at it.

Overview:

Puazi are a humanoid alien species that had been living on earth with humans for over a century. They've long since assimilated and became part of humanity's everyday experience. By the early 21st century, they comprise about 5% of the population of earth, but they're most numerous in the USA and eastern Europe, where they are about 10% of the population.

They appear as orange and dark brown humanoids, with deer-like features: Horns, tails and horizontal pupils. If they're exposed to human pheromones, they go in Heat, becoming aroused and losing most of their inhibitions. The strength of the reaction varies between individuals; ranging between losing their minds and not being affected at all.

Sexuality and relationships:

Amongst themselves Puazi live in complicated poly relationships, with loose rules around sex and intimacy. Away from humans, adult Puazi's go into Heat sporadically, triggered by proximity to their mates and their fertility cycles. On average, a typical Puazi would go into heat for a couple of hours about every other month without human involvement. While the Puazi poly-groups tend to be welcoming to humans, their inclusion is carefully managed because of how much Heat they induce.

Nowadays about half of adult Puazi are a part of such poly relationships, the rest preferring a more human monogamous approach. The difference is mostly cultural. Puazi raised by monogamous couples tend to prefer monogamy as well and vice versa.

In order to function in society, Puazi who need it, take easily available medication that eases the effects of the Heat. It is a culturally sensitive issue amongst them, since it disrupts their traditional relationship structures. Some choose not to take the pill on ideological grounds if they can manage it. Most take it, especially if they have to interact with humans on a daily basis.

The chemical formula for the medication is so simple that it can be practically made at home with common plant ingredients. It is possible for a Puazi to manage their Heat by simply including the medicine ingredients into their diets, but it's less effective that way. Either way, availability of the medicine is never an issue. It's on the same level as basic pain pills or lozenges.

Meta point: The medication availability is designed to avoid any sort of monetary pressure on Puazi. Even the poorest have good access to it. Plus it explains how they managed to function on earth before the medication was developed.

Biology and gender:

Puazi are less sexually dimorphic than humans. Both their males and females tend to be more slender and feminine by human standards. Primary differences between them are skin patterns and horn shapes. (that I've yet to figure out.)

A major difference between puazi and humans is gender and genital distribution. Culturally, Puazi children are not gendered until they hit puberty and start developing secondary sexual characteristics, which are often independent of their genitals. At which point they pick a gender based on how they're developing and feeling. As a result about 50% of adult puazi women have penises and men vagina's.

// Not sure about the bit below. I might get rid of it

Puazi bodies keep changing and developing their entire lives, through a series of hormonal changes spaced about ten years apart from their first puberty. They tend to accumulate more fat in their hips and breasts, growing more and more voluptuous as they age, regardless of sex. It varies greatly between individuals though. Some retain the slender bodies of their youth.

The changes, combined with the Puazi lack attitudes towards gender result in some Puazi changing their gender over the course of their lives. The older a Puazi is, the more likely they are to be a woman.

//End of uncertain bit.

Puazi are on average physically weaker than humans, due to their more delicate bone structure. They also tend to weigh less than a human of equivalent size. They are, however, faster and more dexterous.

Psychology:

Puazi and humans are very similar psychologically for the most part. There is a lot of variance on a level of an individual, but when you zoom out to the level of species patterns emerge:

While humans are more prone to conflict on the ingroup-outgroup axis, Puazi are more likely to form alliances with outgroups. While they are no strangers to exploiting others, they prefer to avoid problems by making everybody at least somewhat happy.

Puazi tend to only ever use violence in a defensive context, if they have no choice. They are rather skittish and will run away from conflict more often than humans.

Sexually, Puazi are a lot more fluid than humans. While they do have preferences, very few of them are either strictly homo or hetero sexual. Furthermore, they tend to view sex and love as almost entirely separate. Many of them chafe at human's more strict sexual norms. Their attitudes towards gender are similar.

History and place in the world:

Puazi living on earth are a self-liberated faction of a former slave species that managed to shake off their oppressors and escape on stolen colony ships. Their species originated billions of light-years away from earth, in an unknown part of space. They don't know how to get back home, or where home is.

They nearly burned out their ships repeatedly wormhole-jumping their whole fleet to get as far away as possible from their galaxy of origin in search of safety. As a result they arrived in the Milky Way in a dwindling fleet of half-working ships in a desperate need of a place to land. Earth being the only habitable planet in range they could reach after the last jump fried their wormhole-travel capabilities.

They landed on earth in the year 1916 half-crashing into the territory of then Russia, around the Ural mountains right in the middle of world war I. The arrival of a million aliens put a damper on the whole thing, ending the hostilities earlier than in our history.

Various human armies did try to take the alien ships by force, but it ended really, really, really badly for them. Puazi may not be very aggressive as a rule, but the ship weapons were more than enough to demoralise any army that tried taking them.

The Puazi, somewhat horrified at the mess of a planet they found themselves stranded on, spent the following decades trading pieces of advanced technology (mostly medical and energy focused) for asylum and goodwill. All the while sending delegations towards every major power center on the planet to build long lasting alliances, as was their custom.

While Puazi initially settled around their spaceships for protection, they soon began venturing out further and settling all around the world, making sure to bring the benefits of their advanced technology to their new homes. That, combined with their skills in diplomacy and being overall very attractive and rather non-threatening to an average human, resulted in them quickly spreading through most of the advanced world.

Plus, any nation that treated their alien immigrants badly soon found themselves cut off from the new technology and an enemy of a growing number of states sympathetic to the aliens. The fact that almost every world leader quickly found themselves with a Puazi lover did not hurt.

Soon enough there was a population of Puazi living in every major human city, gently, but firmly prodding, cajoling and enticing humanity along towards a more peaceful future. No matter how they bitched and moaned about it along the way. The Puazi can be very convincing when they want to be.

While the first half a century of Puazi life on earth was full of resistance from various groups and ideologies, they were slowly, but surely squashed. Vast majority of the world eventually gave up any attempt at shaking-off their new attractive alien friends. By the start of the 21st century Puazi were more or less legally equal citizens in all of the developed world.

Puazi themselves do not have a nation of their own, never seeing a point in it. They prefer to live amongst the humans and assimilate with their gracious hosts. The colony ships have been long since scrapped for raw materials and technology. All of the high-tech weapons were destroyed in what Puazi scientists assured the humans were a series a freak accidents that totally could not have been helped. Thankfully nobody was hurt.

There are still some humans who consider what Puazi did to earth an invasion, they are mostly seen as cooks and conspiracy theorists. The idea that Puazi leaders conducted a carefully planned campaign of sexual manipulation and political conquest spanning a century is seen as ridiculous to the general public.

And even if it was true... So what? Humanity is better off for it. Besides, look at them! They're just so cute!

Religion and culture:

Puazi are not very particular about religion. Their own beliefs are a fluid mish-mash of animism and whatever other people they come in contact with believe. After landing on earth puazi were very quick to roll Christianity up in their ball of beliefs, finding the person of Christ and his ideas of humility and charity very appealing. They are just Christian enough to not offend the major religion, while ignoring parts they don't care for. As a result many Puazi can outwardly appear Christian, while acting in entirely unchristian ways.

They've similarly found ways to become just Muslim, Hindu, etc enough to coexist more or less peacefully with devout believers.

Puazi that don’t adapt the human cultural norms tend to have large polyamorous relationships called clusters, including many individuals, mate pairs, throuples and so on. They can vary in size from as few as three individuals to multiple dozens. Each individual puazi is not limited to only being a part of one cluster, which sometimes results in vast sprawling networks of relationships that are nearly incomprehensible to humans.

Children are brought up communally, and are considered to be everybody's in a cluster. Closer bonds with birth parents are common, but not required.

Clusters tend to consist of a core group of bonded pairs and throuples with a handful of unbonded individuals. The relationships between individual Puazi in a cluster vary greatly, but they usually involve sex.

Types of bonds: // Need better names for those.

-Mates: a romantically involved pair bound together by romantic love and sex. Closest equivalent to human relationships.

-Partners: a pair bound primarily by friendship.

-sex-friends: a pair bound primarily by sex.

-child-mates: a pair bound primarily by a want to reproduce.

Language:

While Puazi have their own language, they tend to prefer whatever the native population speaks around them. While most puazi know both languages, they rarely use their own language save for ceremonial purposes.

Puazi culture does not have a concept of surnames, so the majority of the Puazi that landed on earth took Russian last names. Which is why, even now in the 21st century most of them still have them, even if they live outside of Russia.

Technology:

Due to the unfortunate and entirely unpreventable accident none of the alien weapons were passed on to humans. There were, however, many advancements that were shared.

-Advanced medical technology, eliminating most deadly diseases, and vast majority of STD's

-Energy technology, mostly solar power, eliminated the need for fossil fuels.

-Advanced logistics and bioengineering resulted in better crops and elimination of world hunger. As a result world population reached ten billion humans in the early 21st century with half a billion puazi keeping their company.

In practice, the world of the 21st century is one with less disease, hunger and conflict. The phones are better, the cars are faster and the video games have better graphics. Life is similar to what we have, just slightly better in every way.

Plus there's a machine that can make your dick bigger. It's a good place to live.

Meta, or what am I even trying to accomplish here?

I want to create a setting that looks mostly like a contemporary world but where every possible version of a Puazi porn fantasy could function without breaking immersion/lore. You can mix and match the strength of the Heat (No need for pills or will go insane without them), sexual attitudes (stricter human norms or more free love puazi?), cultural background (Modern human or Alien), and consent levels.

A couple of examples of combinations:

-Chistian, human cultured Puazi struggles with super high heat reaction even with pills.

-Culturally Puazi polycule welcomes a human friend for some casual group sex

-Human cultured Puazi stops taking pills the second they get to college for that shameful slut experience.

-Puazi couple asks a human friend to help them induce heat to conceive easier.

-Puazi/human traditional couple try to go without pills and a lot of monogamous sex ensues.

-Any obvious Puazi non-con scenario.

Between the clash of cultures, heat levels, pills and sexual attitudes you can squeeze out a lot of smaller and larger stories from this setting.

Let me know what you think! I am open to changing most of what I've written above if there is a good reason to do so. That's part of the reason why I avoided committing to any details like horn shapes or diet etc.. That stuff comes later, after the broad strokes are figured out.

Comments

Non-con was never the appeal for me. if anything, I like the enthusiastic affirmative consent.

gac

fantastic and thorough worldbuilding.

Your Secret Admirer

I enjoy the lore, and I think it's great that Puazi prefer peace and mutual prosperity over conflict. I like the idea of a peaceful world with lots of sex and good feelings toward others. I'd prefer to keep non-con out of stories, but I can also appreciate some of the gray areas, such as humans "helping" Puazi who forgot their pills.

*sigh* I love the Puazi so much

The way human research developed must have changed dramatically with the arrival of the Puazi. In Mathematics, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and to a certain, potentially very large extent, Biology, rather than discovering it or developing it from scratch, now it would have been a matter of adapting or reverse engineering it from the Puazi. The infrastructure to do all of that would still have to be created from scratch, which would have required its own developments (making the tools to make the tools to make this one thing and so on). And the Puazi might know how the technology the arrived with works and how it is made but not all the technical developments from WWI tech up to that point (imagine telling the ancient Greeks or Romans how the reactor of your aircraft carrier works, without knowing how to do all the stuff to make the steel for the reactor). But Physics and Mathematics for example, could have made a massive step rather quickly. In the present time, much of the natural sciences and related areas would probably be seen as an exercise in finally catching up to the Puazi.
