Dark Endings and Happy Thoughts!
Added 2018-04-26 05:08:58 +0000 UTCI don't know how many of you remember reading CYOA's as a child, but while researching this style of writing, I was forced to remember just how DARK some of these endings were! In just one novel I died five times through: sinking into quicksand and suffocating to death / being trapped in an underground tomb full of scorpions / being mummified and put into a sarcophagus / my camp was attacked by rabid jackals / I was poisoned by my team! And this was a book I remember reading as a pre-teen!!!
So it occurred to me that I should ask my patreons how they feel about Dark Endings being included in this. Below I have included several options, and I'd like to get some feedback from you.
A) Explicit Endings: A very real threat that not every ending is going to be a plesant one! This is a house with monsters about and sometimes bad things happen to people who make the wrong choice! Death may be assured or implied!
B) Threatening But Non-Lethal: While not every ending is a good one, life threatening situations are off the menu! Entrapment or scary moments might be difficult, but ultimately it's all in good fun! Implied danger exists.
C) Thrilling and Fun: Some chilling moments but overall you're here to enjoy the environment! Some not so great endings might come about, but over all a clever decision or knowing the right information will get you out of a scrape unharmed. Implied danger, but never any real threat.
