Night At Home

“Is it not enough for you to know I simply like it?” Hanzo looked up, hazing into the man's eyes as he held a quirky, secretive smile. He enjoyed being such a confounding boyfriend, giving Jesse the chance to get to know him slowly. He allowed so very few people close. “It is cute. It is funny. It has meaning.”
“Yeah but...Princess Mononoke?”
Hanzo sighed, ever finding himself searching for patience when it came to Jesse. “It's about finding ones place, even when there is no place at all where you fit. About doing the things we feel to be right, even if it does not have the best outcome, or even a good outcome.” He sipped at the soda in his mug and smiled a little bit, nodding his head side to side. “It feels right. I have been San, filled with rage and powerless before a greater force. I have been Ashitaka, driven from my own home and adrift in a world of things I must contend with no matter the cost. I have been Eboshi, determined to prove that my way is right regardless of who I endanger.” Hanzo smiled and kissed Jesse's fingers. “There is a lesson to be learned in every position.”
“You always see something deeper.” Jesse reminded him, but he did not sound like he was mocking.
“What do you see, then?” He asked, half taunting, half honestly wanting to know what Jesse had gotten from the movie.
“Three people at odds with the world and trying to make it into what they think it ought to be, a reflection of themselves.”
Hanzo blinked and sat up. “Why Jesse McCree! And you have the nerve to call me the deep and thoughtful one!” He kissed the cowboys cheeks, feeling a happy flutter at the gristly touch of his beard. “Will you watch another with me? Howls Moving Castle is a bit less serious.”
“I'm up for it if you are. But first, snacks.” He shook the bowl and stood up.
“Is this the night I get to taste McCree's Famous Sweet and Spicy popcorn?” He chuckled, getting up to follow him into the kitchen.
“Absolutely! Been waiting for a chance to break this out on ya.” He grabbed a jug of the kernels, putting a pot on the heat. Hanzo watched, admiring the way Jesse moved back and forth as he took pride in making even such a simple snack for them. Hanzo would have to teach him how to make puff rice at some point. He was sure to like it.
He watched as Jesse added peanut oil to the bottom of the pan and tossed in a few kernels to see when the temperature would be hot enough. When they all popped a few minuets later, he tossed in a cup of the uncooked kernels and set the lid on the top while he mixed together a few ingredients. In one bowl he mixed together butter, mayonnaise and lime juice. In another he mixed salt, pepper, cayenne, chili powder, paprika, garlic salt and brown sugar. But it wasn't till he pulled out a package of cheese that Hanzo raised an eyebrow.
“You're insane.”
“Don't judge culinary genius!” The cowboy chastised and stirred the popping kernels about. He pulled out the deep popcorn bowl and tossed the white, fluffy snack into the ceramic dish. He added the wet mixture first, stirring until it was nicely coated without getting soggy. Then he added the dry mix in sprinklings until they all had a dark red coating to them. “Finally...”
“Madness.” Hanzo chuffed, but looked at him with amusement none the less. Last but not least came the cheese, crumbled up and tossed with all the flair of a waiter, Jesse turned around with the massive bowl.
“Well?”
“It looks like I finally discovered how you got you gut.”
Jesse arched a brow and shrugged. “Never hear you complaining when it keeps you warm at night.” He held thee bowl out. “Try.”
“Only for you would I do this thing.” Hanzo couldn't resist a wry smirk, but took a handful none the less. Jesse had never served him anything inedible. There had been a few close calls. But thus far nothing he couldn't stomach. He eyed the man, his heart beating faster at that hopeful face glinting for approval, before he sighed and took a large bite. The popcorn crunched and flavor covered his tongue! Spicy yes! But with that hint of sweet and the creamy cheese to make it just right. Hanzo took another bite and almost laughed at the smug look that Jesse had gained. “It is quite good.”
“Quite good.” Jesse said, mimicking Hanzo's tone. “Get yer ass over here.” He smacked the man's rear and they curled back up on the couch together. “How many more movies do we got?”
“Be glad I do not make you watch the entire Ghibli line. We would be here all week.” Hanzo teased a hand up Jesse's thigh, beautiful thigh and rested it just shy of his boxer briefs. A greedy little impulse took hold of him and he nudged a finger up under the hem just to see Jesse groan softly.
“Don't tempt me. I got the entire Clint Eastwood box set and I ain't afraid to use em.” He threatened happily, pulling the blanket over them. These were moments to be treasured, the simple safety of a dark room, a glowing tv, and good movies. Comfort was a luxury neither of them got terribly often. And for that sake, they'd take it where they could get it.

Omg. This made my morning. Not only that I love how Hanzo will try anything for Jesse
