Forest Tails Page 165 in HD

So as I said in the public posts, if you remember back a little while I mentioned I was throwing stones that would land eventually. This is as much of a landing as it is another throw. I don't recall at what point exactly I concepted this particular scene, but it's been rattling around for a while and I'm glad to finally get to put it out there.

I know it'll prompt a couple' people to go back through the comic and see whether Marvin's statement is true, but I will admit that's part of a calculated "risk" I'm willing to take ;D

I also said this is my only page of backlog, which is true, I'm out of pages again, but the fact that I was able to produce backlog means that things are beginning to fall into place as they're supposed to. I still have to prioritize commissions before Forest Tails, but if the trend continues, this may well change sooner than I had expected, so thank you guys very, very, very much!!!

So I have some issues throughout the page, not just panel 3. Most of them have to do with contrasting and visual regnition.

When you think about it, I suppose that might actually be a good thing, seeing as it showcases naural camouflage of animals, as they do not see colors, or not as we do, but it's a bad thing for a visual medium, since it's uncomfortable to look at something that your eye first has to understand before it can process it.

Having said that, I'm very happy with the texture work on most of these panels and my newly painted grasses work great as backdrops and props. I've also found a new way to work with a brush of mine to make the far backgrounds more varied.

I'm not sure whether the method is faster yet, so I will have to time that, but since it's not vital to the story telling aspect of the pages, I'm probably going to be sticking to that, instead of copy-pasting in my trees and trying to arrange them in a way that works.

I forget again what I was listening to directly while working on this, though it was probably more Ori/Wisps OST.
