Gunwild: Oh nooooooo do we have to talk about this? It's sad. IT'S SAD, PSU. You took that cute picture from earlier and made it sad!

Psu: Hey, a lot of life is pretty sad! I think it's good for a comic to get sad sometimes, so you can get a new perspective on the happy stuff! We're probably not gonna get THAT sad though. Like we're not gonna... Gunwild what's a sad book? I'm very tired right now from moving all day and names escape me.

Gunwild: Uhh. Pet Sematary? Gone Girl? Bridge to Terabithia? The Bible?

Psu: We're probably closer to Bridge to Terabithia than like... anything else there.

Gunwild: Oh god, stay safe, kid characters!

Psu: Anyway, I think it's worth talking about how we don't like... see Maddy cry here. She has a few times. But I think if we do it too much, she loses her cool factor. But I think we want to remind folks that she was young enough to still be full of dreams and ambition! It sucks if/when those don't always work out.

Gunwild: I think she can yet have dreams and ambition! But y'know, maybe they won't be the exact same ones she had when she was a little younger. And I think learning to see that as okay is maturity. Sometimes you find out that, say, that war your government told you was a totally good idea is kind of a dangerous, wasteful wreck. OR that your new long hair wasn't as comfy as you'd hoped!

Psu: Maddy with shorter hair might as well be a different character! One who has... SEEN THINGS. BEEN THROUGH THINGS. LIVED A HARD CORE LIFE.

Gunwild: Found a barber they like!

Psu: An incredibly important rite of passage into adult hood.

Gunwild: I think both you and I have pretty different goals for ourselves than we once did. And yet, in a way, our particular ambitions haven't changed a whole lot? I still can't stop getting excited about comics.

Psu: I think as a kid I had a lot of different ambitions but I was drawing comics then. It just happened to be the only thing I kept doing. Maddy I think always wanted to be on a starship. And always will, too. It just might be somewhere else instead, as we find out in this chapter.

Gunwild: And in our next chapter of comic, we'll find out where she is NOW!

Psu: But I can't wait until THEN. I really can't, good thing I already know. Gunwild sends me spoilers.
