Gunwild: Okay, okay, this one is silly. And I don't like to just have the thing we do be talking about Star Trek - we have our own little contributions. But you know, you always wonder what people have on their mind when they're staring meaningfully out of space-windows, and a lot of the time I bet it's pretty silly. Sometimes people just like to take a while to rummage around in their own heads and find out what's in there!
Psu: Oh, it's definitely okay to do it SOMETIMES. And this is just a way of looking at someone's inner life. Like... a Quentin Tarantino movie will do it all the time. It connects the reader, the author, and the character! But just as long as we don't make it where like... we write our characters as somehow better alongside the famous ones, we should be fiiiine. Instead can we talk about how spherical that planet looks? I don't think I've painted a more spherical looking planet this entire comic...
Gunwild: I wonder what makes it that gumball color. Also, all the planets haven't been similarly round? I didn't notice! Guess it's the sphere-ish glint it's giving off.
Psu: Well there's a science to determining what the composition of a planet is by its color but I'm not a scientist so I'm gonna say it's the same substance as bubblegum. But as far as art goes, this one has one of the strongest concentrated highlights of just about ANY object I've ever drawn in this comic. The sharper, brighter, and smaller highlights on an object create a stronger impression of shape and luster.
Gunwild: Somebody polished the atmosphere just the other day!
Psu: That seems like it'd be against the prime directive...
Gunwild: Regency doesn't have one, the directive is to make there be more Regency. And shine it up, while you're out there!
Psu: That's the opposite of the Star Trek Prime Directive! That probably causes a lot of problems!
Gunwild: They both do. Unlike staying home and watching historical dramas about Captain Kirk.
