Gunwild: Yes, Psu convinced me it was okay to name an alien species the "Doggo" and I've never looked back.

Psu: I don't remember there being an actual discussion about it. I think at one point I called them Doggos and no one said no. That doesn't always happen in our comic, we usually like to think things through. But then hey, sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Like Dax Hundt.

Gunwild: This guy in the suit looks like he's going to explain to me why I haven't worked hard enough this quarter. He's very disappointed I'm not more psyched about making him rich...

Psu: The lady on the other hand, according to our lore, is probably happy with her love life.

Gunwild: I had gerbils as a kid, they're really hard to determine the sex of until they're adults. So a whole species where it's biologically acknowledged as not really being the point sounded interesting to me.

Psu: We definitely had some fun with it, what with basing a whole story for Kettering on a relatively late growth spurt. But I remember we were pretty cautious about how we presented it too. Like we never really wanted Maddy to come across as a kid, though sometimes it sneaks by that she's actually younger than her other contemporaries.

Gunwild: Or is she? Maybe her bonds aren't the romancey type... well anyway I am not a collector of Funko Pops but I do kinda want that Doggo sculpture of Maddy. Even if the artist is still putting on finishing touches.

Psu: You hear that Funko Pop? We will happily sell out our characters if you just send us at least one Maddy pop figure.

Gunwild: I didn't say I would share it with you.

Psu: Evil... Anyway, I figure we should talk about this part. If anyone's wondering why we spent a few weeks doing some alien biographies well... one we thought it'd be fun! I like to think our readers enjoyed our fictional histories of space aliens. We got to reveal some cryptic information. But mostly, it seemed like it would give me a sort of semi break after we just finished a very significant Cassiopeia Quinn chapter.

Gunwild: Also as long as you establish stuff a little, people can't get be so mad when you get all weird with it later.

Psu: Yeah, I just wanted to say... I didn't think about it while we were making them but this reminds me a lot about these old Dungeons and Dragon's Monster Manuals. I used to pour over the entries as a kid, because the descriptions just gave you enough information to let your imagination run wild. I hope we did a little bit of that with our creatures here.

Gunwild: Oh yeah, I would always read game manuals and stuff with that kind of info and think "I want to know more about how this odd society works" so naturally we'd try to do the same.

Psu: It also gave me a new respect for people who design these books... Making sure you've got enough space for all the lore AND a lady in a nice dress is hard work.

Gunwild: Hey Psu, go design a Cassiopeia Quinn pinup collection book. With lots of expository text by me.
