Page Commentary No. 244

Gunwild: Why do we need to do word-talking? Panel 3 is like the best part of the comic and it's got no words at all.

Brellom: I'm actually a fan of stories with minimal to no dialogue. Conan the Barbarian is one of my favourite movies. There's like 5 lines in the entire film.

Psu: Yeah but Conan doesn't have jokes or space politics. Or hologram cats.

Brellom: Crom laughs at your hologram cats.

Gunwild: You don't need to write much of a script when you can crib from Robert E. Howard openly. Or Ghengis Khan, if you prefer. Also, that movie totally had jokes. Remember when James Earl Jones took a bow and fired a snake like an arrow? That was hilarious.

Psu: We don't crib Robert E. Howard until AFTER this chapter, at least from what I remember. Anyway, that middle panel was pretty cool. But it was pretty hard to do. Was this the page where I asked Brellom to just paint in some random background people to give it a little more depth?

Brellom: Yes. There's a robot cat Link behind Penny, and a guy with a Minecraft Axe. This is one of the pages where both of our rendering styles are clearly present on it. Though it's a lot easier to see yours in the close-ups.

Gunwild: Eggbot using a manipulator arm to just hold a normal gun is fantastic. "Is that an egg?" "He's got a gun!" BLAM BLAM 

Psu: Eggbot continues to be a credit to the team.

Brellom: Eggbot is good.

Psu: Also that big guy. Holy cow, maybe the heroes should've kept that one.

Brellom: Maybe he'll appear in the future as an old friend helping the gang out. I dunno, I'm not one of the writers!

Psu: I wouldn't be sure how we'd do it but we could probably do a dumb little story about what're these robots, newly given life again, up to. Meanwhile, speaking of life. How about all this death on this page? This is the most violent page in all Cassiopeia, easily.

Brellom: For now.

Gunwild: Yeah, I think you're selling our future prospects short.

Psu: It's the only one I used that blood splatter paint brush on, for actual blood, at least. So hey, I guess we gotta have some more violence so I can get my money's worth on that brush pack.

Gunwild: The rare four-tailed balloon from off-panel looks like it's stick into the side of the panel with spikes.

Psu: This page is just full of violent imagery. But you know what wasn't violent looking? the mercenary in her pajamas.

Gunwild: Tactical pajamas. Also, I hope the audience accepted the premise that there could still be danger even though we disposed of the ninja robots fairly completely.

Psu: They were prototypes and to be fair, Botz wasn't putting her best work on it. And our heroes got an extra badass army. That's on top of the bad guys falling for the laws of ninjas. The more ninja cyborg robots you get, the less effective they are. I think that's the plot of Mortal Kombat 11.

Gunwild: Ah man, I hate being compared with highbrow works...
