Page Commentary No. 216

Psu: This is silly but it’s one of my favorite pages.

Gunwild: So, SUBTLY, it has actually been canon for a long time that there's a classic actress named Marinette Drouilly in this setting. Little did the audience know that she's Lefyne's mom AND Talps's style icon.

Psu: Ah yeah. We haven’t really figured out a way to make that “deep lore” super clear. At least not short of taking a page to randomly cutaway to Lefyne’s family talking about the movie. I mean... we COULD do that. We have done similar before. But it might have been harder to get in a bigger refrence to Slig-lu. Which I think is like... the THIRD character we had come up with for this series before we properly setup the Vanaa nurse ship.

Gunwild: Uhhhhhhh... 

Psu: Oh yeah, we did totally do a cutaway! Or I guess more succinctly, you and Jadie did and I fell asleep because I was very sleepy.

Gunwild: It was because your PC was broken, you said!

Psu: Oh god. That was this year? That felt like a decade ago.

Gunwild: It's been one of those. Next year, let's try enjoying ourselves... with stargazing!

Psu: Sometimes it’s really good to space out. I do sincerely mean it, this is one of my favorite pages. Even though it’s a cutaway to two of the most minor characters in the entire franchise, I think it’s the page that feels the most like my old whimsical work. You probably can’t find it online right now, but my older webcomic Question Duck had this way of... silent contemplation. And then... an interruption! It was kinda cute. And finding a way to get that feel in a Question Duck was appreciated. Also like... it was good to finally have a couple spacemen in a fantasy movie get rescued after getting spaced. Like there was this short story that was super sad and I keep thinking about it...  Ray Bradbury’s Kaleidoscope! That was the one. Sorry took me a bit to find the title.

Gunwild: Yeah, I knew they'd be fine, obviously they were wearing spacesuits. But I wrote the page this way because I knew you draw lovely stars.

Psu: Also it was nice because I’m so practiced at drawing stars, filling up half the page with them let me get some extra sleep that week with the time savings!

Gunwild: You and your sleep and your nourishing food and your quality art... I'm definitely the one of us who stays up and watches junk on his phone instead!

Psu: I’m... pretty sure the both of us have logged way too many hours on our internet things. You wanna watch a movie together to pass the time, instead?
