Gunwild: Please, be easy on me, I haven't had a real sleep in three days.

Psu: I haven't had to easiest week either, to be honest! But man... we're already on this chapter! The whole sword thing just flew right by.

Gunwild: You enjoyed talking about it, it was the first sports manga you ever drew! But what kind of comic is this page?

Psu: A heist movie where we skip the whole scene where we get introduced to the different characters? Mercy always seemed like she'll get as straight to the point as possible. Well... I guess this is like that scene in a heist movie where you have characters that sound like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, where they banter about something before some action happens. But they're also dealing with a mad half robot lady? Is there a movie like that?

Gunwild: I feel like if there is, it's only available on VHS. And I'm not sure if my VCR still works!

Psu: Shoot... I think I tossed out my VCR when I left college. Well. I'm gonna guess we can save a lot of our discussion for this next plot, when we get to the next plot? Like we always wanted to bring back Doctor Botz, and she's in color now! But maybe we can discuss the accommodations that Regency Space Prisons have. How many people exist in a Cellblock Space Bubble? Are they always towed around by the main ship?

Gunwild: I sort of like to think that the connectors there, the walkways, all disengage completely. That way most of the time the blocks really are just motionless in space, so even if you found a way to escape one, you wouldn't have a ride, right?

Psu: Ah that's smart. They probably use other means to tractor the cell blocks around, but otherwise they're just left alone in space.

Gunwild: I bet they're well-defended... at a distance. But probably, Mercy did something really hardcore here and didn't use a ship for the approach. Just lined herself up and once she had the vector, did it with unguided momentum. Don't ask me how, I'm already softening up my own soft sci-fi, here!

Psu: Well she does have a teleporter. Which we have sorta discussed, breaks a lot of defenses! We're gonna have to talk about how we've had to find ways to nerf that, huh?

Gunwild: Well, I think I just managed to sort of never give it any more powers than it had the first time it appeared. It takes her from where she is to one preset location on her ship. And that's all.

Psu: But we did give her new punching powers. She's basically a Batman and comes up with a random tool when we need to give her one.

Gunwild: True! But I would say that is actually part of Mercy's character from the first few pages she was in. She's got goggles and darts designed for the mission, and then a stasis box... I think as explanations for a sci-fi character having whatever they need go, "They're a tech-based bounty hunter!" is not too implausible.

Psu: Maybe she should talk more about a code of honor or something. And then we can have her rescue a baby Vanaa. And we can have an awesome show on some digital streaming service...

Gunwild: I haven't watched The Mandalorian yet, but I will. A whole bunch of time I had been spending stressing just opened up.

Psu: It's a new world where we can chill and write and think about Baby Yodas. Or I can spend more time designing cute suits. The outfits in this page are really cute!

Gunwild: Ah yeah, if you did escape the floaty cube, you wouldn't have a space suit, only the guards have those.

Psu: But you'd die in a really cute orange and white getup that accentuates your artificial hips. Wait, would Botz die?

Gunwild: Depends on how much of her is organic. Cells need oxygen, you know. Anyway let's not detail that further, though, so that we can just conveniently do whatever we want later with!

Psu: At the very least the most convenient way to film a heist scene!

I saw Dr Botz wearing handcuffs and thought it'd be ingenious if she detached her hands one at a time slipped the cuffs off then put her hands back on and said "maybe next time don't handcuff a cyborg?"

I mean, swap the pronouns and RICHAAAAAAARDS! -> QUIIIIIIIIIIIIN! and that's basically already a Dr Botz story. I love her so much.

Not Fenimore

I assume she survives in the vacuum of space the same way Dr Doom did that once back in the silver age: by being assumed dead for ten issues and then showing up with an absurd explanation about how aliens found and rescued him in the time it took his air to run out, so he conquered the aliens and took over their ship and returned to earth for revenge on RICHAAAAAAAAARDS!
