Gunwild: A pilot with her BUTT.
Psu: I really love this page. Glad we got to do it. I think we had some good comments on it too. A lot of the right ones, speculating about what she was gonna do with Beebot. But to me, there really was never any question about what she would do. It was just how she would do it.
Gunwild: I felt things about that! But yeah I had to figure something out that made sense, since if Maddy can just send Cassiopeia mail, it raises a lot of questions about why she doesn't just go arrest her.
Psu: It was just another adventure that Beebot would have to go on, with the help of some new friends. Have I mentioned my fondness for this story JRR Tolkien wrote for his son, when his son lost his toy dog on a beach. How the dog went on a journey through the sea and to the moon, to get back home? Yeah that’s a good one. Tolkien books seem to be fond about going elsewhere then coming home.
Gunwild: That'll probably happen when you serve in World War I.
Psu: Oh we should talk about that on the next page. I’ll probably mention it again... Anyway, we should talk about that art in the top right panel. I think that’s a reference to the very first time I drew Ragamuffin Peia. And it was also the invention of Beebot.
Gunwild: Yeah, and we kinda knew even then we were gonna bring him back or at least explain where he was.
Psu: I’m not totally sure if we joined Hiveworks at that point. We probably did. But it was before Hiveworks started making Bee mascot plush toys. Go check out their kickstarter for bee shaped merch!
Gunwild: Time to one-up them by installing a real hover-motor in our own!
Psu: Bzz bzz! On the story side of things though, we had some conversations about whether or not Maddy should learn about Peia’s past. I knew I wanted to put that in there, and have it come up again in the comic. Which we did in just the last chapter!
Gunwild: I mean I think I was all right with the learning, I just didn't have a properly convoluted way for her to safely return this toy. But we worked it out! Next page.
Psu: Tune in to see if we figured it out or not! (We did.) Ya know, maybe we should talk about the world a bit... Like we hadn’t really talked about this planet that Cassiopeia was on. It seemed pretty sad but it’s nice to see that people can still try to be good. Like... I think one of my favorite characters in this was the cop that was just worried because this kid was no longer giving them trouble.
Gunwild: Maybe the big "I" logo stands for "I (care about what happens to people)"
Psu: Some people on the planet just thinks it stands for “I” and only caring about themselves. But it’s actually a pillar of solidarity. We’re all in this together! (Check on your acquaintances, folks!)
Gunwild: Definitely. Although I couldn't live on this planet, I mean maybe there are seasons, but based on all we're seeing it's been winter for decades!
Psu: That’s why Cassiopeia really left. She needed to find good pants-less weather.
Gunwild: Any weather is pantsless weather if you're determined enough.
