Gunwild: This one is another triumph on your part.
Psu: We’re bringing Feti back, right gun?
Gunwild: I mean we've got to. You don't introduce a snooty Italian pirate-hunter lady in an earlier act and fail to... I dunno, use her for something later!
Psu: We have a lot of characters that need to return! Feti was really cool though. I think we had the rough idea for what we wanted the chapter to be about, and basically it asked for a really strong looking character to oppose Maddy. It surprisingly didn’t take long to land on a design we really liked. But I think what seems to happen... Gunwild and I toss around ideas for a new character. Then I sketch something and Gunwild really likes them. And then Gunwild starts coming up how their character is based on the design.
Gunwild: I think the only thing I called for as a change was the basket hilt to make the sword more renaissance Italian. But anyway, mostly all I did for this page was silly magazine article text!
Psu: The headline writers for SMUG are a bunch of degenerates.
Gunwild: Good thing nobody asked me for an actual personality quiz based on Voltron lion colors, 'cause I got nothing.
Psu: Other design notes here. I purposefully left out highlights in Feti’s eyes to give her a more unnerving stare. However you can choose to stare at how her suit impossibly shows off her belly button if you want to. But then your eye is supposed to be drawn to the ruby red sword. There’s a lot of different things to stare at which I think makes it a fun cover. Is this after we realized that SMUG was a good way to introduce new characters that’ll show up in an arc? Or around when we figured we should do this for a lot of our chapters?
Gunwild: Oh we figured it out by introducing Motor Minx. This is actually the first time we got to do it in a while.
Psu: What was the chapter just before this? Oh right... Gleb’s birthday. I don’t think Gleb would go on the cover of SMUG...
Gunwild: He's not a smuggler! As far as anyone knows. Because nobody knows that he totally contrived to smuggle life-saving tech to the galaxy at large.
Psu: To be fair, Feti’s not a smuggler either...
Gunwild: She's definitely involved in smugglery matters, though!
Psu: Wait... how did SMUG get this photo?
Gunwild: Same way the paper in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning got that picture of Jason, I guess. Presumably it was from some dead guy's camera!
