LA FOOD GUIDE 2023
Added 2023-10-15 19:24:01 +0000 UTCGood morning folks, it’s time to eat in Los Angeles, and since I’m sure everyone took my advice not to stay near the theater, and just Uber down for the show, the whole city is our oyster! (Literally! Los Angeles IS an oyster!) Anyway, here’s how you win.
Morning:
Breakfast by Salt’s Cure has incredible oatcakes and house-cured breakfast meats! I always get OG cakes, fresh ham, and two eggs with a coffee!
Brite Spot is an old timey diner but they serve Budweisers all day. I go for liver and onions cause I’m Columbo, but just get whatever! Look at that upholstery!
Rutt’s Hawaiian Cafe is all about the breakfast skillets! If you know you know, but here they’re called “Royales”. Pick your favorite and eat it until it makes up half your bodyweight!
Lunch:
Sonoratown has two locations in the city (at least) and everything is excellent, but if you want to have a Chilluminati-certified experience, get a couple Chivichangas (not a typo), some hot salsa, and a nice jamaica on the side.
Langer’s Delicatessen is a decades-old classic so block out some time here. Get whatever you want but LA-obsessives go for the #19 with good reason.
KazuNori’s another spot with a couple locations, like the Sugarfish of hand rolled sushi. There’s many different rolls to try, they’re not splittable, get however many you want, but if you want to make me proud, get thyself some Blue Crab.
Dinner:
Badmaash is the best, most-modern-style Indian food in the city, and you’d be messing up if you didn’t go for it. Chili cheese naaaaaaaaan!
Horses is a wild spot, but can you get a table there? This is for ballers only, but let’s not leave em clamoring for a spot where you might catch Jay-Z.
Casita Del Campo has been open since the 60’s and if you’ve ever wanted to have classic midcentury American/Mexican with a full bar, this is the VIBE, and what an aesthetic to boot!
Bonus:
DO go to the Grand Central Market or the Original Farmer’s Market if you want to have a small bites food smorgasbord of a million delicious things.
DO watch my Alex’s Burger Rush series from 2021! Only one spot on there is out of business now, and it was for a pretty interesting reason! Google Belcampo! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkO8ORCZhh3sp5jFvPxTkDnHRNe1Zc8b5&si=4oIzERkRM7r3TdbK (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkO8ORCZhh3sp5jFvPxTkDnHRNe1Zc8b5&si=4oIzERkRM7r3TdbK)
And finally, like a dependable friend, Canter’s Deli is always there for you, it’s open all hours of the night, there’s a great dive bar attached, and there’s no single place in Los Angeles I associate with being here more. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, it’s all fantastic at Canter’s. It’s the kind of place you used to be ab
le to take a landline phone call from your booth. You’re welcome.
Happy Eating!

This is awesome. I really enjoyed Alex's Burger Rush. One of my favorite things you've been involved in and inspired me to seek out those kind of places in my town.
