Page Commentary No. 150

Gunwild: I was so glad somebody noticed that it said "Bradbury Egg" instead of "Cadbury Egg." 

Psu: This comic... is perfect. I think I don't have a lot more to add beyond that. It's been a little while since I've actually thought about the Vanaa characters, which is a shame. But whenever we could, if we could think of some human thing that would be funnier from the perspective of a living plate of jell-o (TM), it was sure to make it into a 4koma.

Gunwild: Plus this actually got what I felt was a pretty good callback recently when Nimoo used Easter eggs for his goods-smuggling...

Psu: Every page we put up is canon! I think... there are probably some pages that would be harder to explain than others... anyway, this 4koma reminds me, if Gunwild doesn't mind me talking about this, we would use a 4koma to sometimes buy some time between pages. Even though we were at the climax for "The Big Race," the pages were also getting extremely difficult to produce. A simple 4koma, even though it would cut into the narrative flow, bought important resting time in between each crazy sequence.

Gunwild: I mean for me a 4koma takes just as much brain-work as a normal story page, if not more (it has to be complete, have a gag, nail the timing) but you can tell this was considerably less time-intensive to draw, which is super valuable to be able to deploy.

Psu: Oh wait, ya know what I realized was non canonical in this page? Talps's room over there? It's not her canon private quarters. It looks more like a closet! It even has a stool she doesn't usually sit on. And the door frame isn't a canonical Vanaa circle door frame! This is highly inaccurate...

Gunwild: Maybe she's just saying "hi" from somewhere they stopped, not from the ship, and it's like an office phone or something.

Psu: What like a phonebooth? Ooooh ya know, okay what would save this from being out of canon. They're not on the ship but on another Vanaa dominated space town. A lot of the facilities have vanaa amenities put into them after they were originally built. So this is possibly some hotel the crew is staying at. So it might be a reference to their old warlike ways, staying in an alien territory, we can be assured that the Aid corps is there primarily to provide aid to anyone who needs it. Also it helps explain where Nimoo managed to trade for some exotic human eggs.

Gunwild: See, the problem is that when it's your own comic, nobody awards you a No-Prize.
