Gunwild: This one is important color-wise!
Psu: It's the first time we clearly see Admrial Senchel in color?
Gunwild: I think so. But also this is Brellomy coloring, isn't it?
Psu: Heh, I was being a little coy. Yeah, this is actually the first page that our friend Brellom did all the colors on. This was before they were flattin' pages, I just really needed a hand that night to get the comic out on time. Brell, at least to me, has a very different coloring style. And you can see that the colors are much more saturated than usual. Also you have a lot harder shadow planes.
Gunwild: In the first panel the poster is for the Algol Demons. That's because Algol is the "demon star!" I'm clever. (But not really.)
Psu: This is definitely the most character development that Senchel has in the entire comic, up to this point. He's always been the one to have the supportive voice for Madison on the Council, but it's good to get a little more detail on that. So ya know, I had to give him the scary looking scars and the pallid color because it entertained me that the "nice" one was the guy with the evil villain look. But he's nice. Has traditional hardwood furniture. Takes care of his trees. Has a snow globe. What other references did we slip into that first panel?
Gunwild: I see now that one of the books on Senchel's shelf is "The Citadel," just plainly Mass Effecting it up.
Psu: Actually, that's a personal reference for me! A long time ago I found some old books for sale at the local library and there was this particularly old tome called "The Citadel" which I had no idea what it was about. It came out of a time before dust covers and the whole thing was worn down. The book was a few cents so I picked it up. Turns out the book was about a young man straight out of medical school going off to this remote citadel to be their only doctor. It was great.
Psu: A J Cronin! That was the writer. Sorry, had to google that.
Gunwild: It's good to google that! Hey, I like Cassiopeia's headband.
Psu: I still hadn't fully designed her bike and outfit for the race, by this point. I kinda wish I remembered the headband though. It was supposed to keep her hair out of her face while she's biking but the trouble is if I put away her bangs, she wouldn't look like Cassiopeia anymore.
Psu: I think I'm gonna go read The Citadel again. I remember liking it a lot but don't remember a lot of details.
